I've got to admit, it's getting better.

Grabbed up Zbrush today. Tinkered with that some time ago also. Gosh another program to learn hehe. The airship imported great. Thought it was going to cause trouble being that it's a high poly model.

Ah don't think I'll be needing Zbrush for a while now. I figured out displacement mapping in 3ds max. I didn't do so well at first though :)

              Initial attempt:

              Tweaking some values:

More tweak and lowering the intensity of the displacement image so the bumping isn't as high:

I lowered the brightness even more on the displacement map still thought the stitching was a little too high. I think it looks even better now.

                Compare:

                BEFORE:

                AFTER:

                          Re: Diary of a madman!

Figured I revive this old thread for a bit. I started initially working on this for beticaforever as a request but I also wanted to try out some new techniques I have learned before redoing some of the airship model which I have found new details about. Once I'm done with all of it I'll post that in open forum. This will replace the old one on the tail section

Here's the old one and Bleh!

I used the style guide image of the Sportacus badge as a template to sculpt the 3d object into shape

                          Work in progress

                          End results

Shiny and purty. You can almost make a dinner plate from it.

The reflection is cool, that makes it so real. It looks a bit like toy plastic.
