Hello, I've been a fan of Lazytown for years now, and just stumbled onto getlazy,
Really? we're not that well hidden ;)
Magnús: - I have fans of all ages and I don't think it's weird when older people like LazyTown. LazyTown appeals to people for many different reasons: dancing, acrobatics, etc.
Hi everyone.
At this point, the pink bulletin has been flashing for some time now, so I better get going with my welcoming message!
I'm Fox, and I have been a fan of LazyTown for many years now. Sadly I'm a bit too old to have watched the show on tele when it just came out, and I must admit that I really don't have too many memories of me dancing around with Stephanie when I was a child, therefor we must go a little further to find out where my 'fandom' of the show started.
I must have been 14 when 'You are a Pirate' hit the interwebs, and suddenly boomed out to something spectacular. I was still a young teen, and LimeWire was at it's peak at the moment, so naturally I jumped right aboard the train.
I quickly found out what all of this was about, and I remember getting in touch with a guy named LazyTownEpisodes on youtube. He was uploading every episode from the season one, and naturally I just had to watch each and every one of them. I don't know why, maybe it was my pre-teen hormones thinking Stephanie was cute or something, but never the less I did. Unfortunately LazyTownEpisodes soon got banned, and even though his efforts at making a new channel was somewhat successful, we still lost contact.
That's when it all came to a rest, and I really didn't show any attention towards the show for many years to come.
Fast forward to about a year ago, and suddenly out of nowhere, I started humming the tune to Cooking by the Book. I quickly got back onto YouTube, and searched the song right up. That's when it all started again.
I began listening to all of the songs I could remember, and I was surprised of how well they were made. It wasn't anything serious, and I would only listen to the tunes at occasions, but that was all about to soon change.
Some months ago, it really started for me. I remember feeling really down at the time, and I was at desperation to get my mind off of things. That's when I remembered LazyTown, and how all of their songs always seemed to cheering and brightful.
So I listed to some of the songs, then more of the songs, then the rest of the songs, and before I was clear of the situation, I was bing-banging along to the Megamix every single day.
That's when I had a realization. I'm a musical composer myself, and I play a couple of different instruments. But I have been lacking the inspiration, and really the need to get out there and play some music again. So I decided that I was gonna make covers of the beautiful songs from LazyTown!
I searched the web high and low, in the quest to obtain the original scores from Máni, but quickly came to the realization that such things simply do not exist. But in my searching, I accidentally came across this site, a dedicated forum to the show.
So I jumped right in, and got in touch with Stingy, who have been so nice to help me out a bunch with my project. He has helped me out so much, that my initial plan of this taking about a year to get the first couple of songs done, actually was down right crushed, and that I can now even begin setting up the website.
If you guys could be interested in hear my interpretation of the songs, all planned and played with real acoustic instruments, feel free to bookmark LazyCovers.com.
But beware, the website is at the moment only a mirror to this forum, and when it gets done, it will mostly consist of basic HTML. I have no degree in webdesigning, and this entire project is mainly for my own amusement. Never the less, I still think you guys should pay it a visit when it's all up and running.
Phew, and with that I think we have went over everything I had to say. Thank you for letting me into your userbase, and thank you for having such an awesome forum right here. I'll be poking in once in a while, just to state my presence, but until then I'll see you around!
