Máni nominated for an Emmy award for Latabær music The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences recently announced the nominations for the 34th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Awards. Máni Svavarsson, author of the music in the episodes about Latabæ, is among those nominated for music direction and composition (Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition).
This is Máni's first nomination for an Emmy Award and also the first nomination of an Icelandic musician for the award, but among other nominees in the same category are the authors and directors of the music in the shows Sesame Street and Bratz.
When asked, Máni said it was a great honor. "This is of course a great honor and incredibly fun to receive this nomination. It is no less satisfying to receive confirmation that the music is reaching the ears of so many people, but it shows once again that we in Latabæ are on the right track."
At the beginning of last February, the nominations for the special Emmy Awards for children's programming (Children's Programming Emmy Awards) were announced, where Magnús Scheving and Jonathan Judge are nominated for directing children's content. Latibær is therefore nominated for two Emmy awards this year.
The awards for both nominations will be presented at a ceremony at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood on June 15, which will be televised live by CBS. Mana's lazy town song, Bing Bang (Time to Dance), went straight into the UK Top 40 singles chart at number 4. last December Never before had an Icelandic song gone so high on the UK singles chart in the first week.

Máni tilnefndur til Emmyverðlauna fyrir Latabæjartónlist
Á dögunum tilkynnti Bandaríska sjónvarpsakademían (National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences) um tilnefningar til 34th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Awards. Máni Svavarsson, höfundur tónlistarinnar í þáttunum um Latabæ, er á meðal þeirra sem tilnefndir eru fyrir tónlistarstjórnun og tónverk (Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition).
Þetta er fyrsta tilnefning Mána til Emmy-verðlauna og jafnframt fyrsta tilnefning íslensks tónlistarmanns til verðlaunanna en á meðal annarra tilnefndra í sama flokki eru höfundar og stjórnendur tónlistarinnar í þáttunum Sesamy Street og Bratz.
Aðspurður sagði Máni þetta mikinn heiður. "Þetta er auðvitað mikill heiður og ótrúlega gaman að fá þessa tilnefningu. Ekki er það síður ánægjulegt að fá staðfestingu á því að tónlistin sé að ná eyrum svo margra en það sýnir enn og aftur að við í Latabæ erum á réttri leið."
Í byrjun febrúar síðast liðnum var tilkynnt um tilnefningar til sérstakra Emmy-verðlauna fyrir barnaefni (Children's Programming Emmy Awards) en þar eru Magnús Scheving og Jonathan Judge tilnefndir fyrir leikstjórn á barnaefni. Latibær er því tilnefndur til tveggja Emmy-verðlauna í ár.
Verðlaunin fyrir báðar tilnefningarnar verða veitt við hátíðlega athöfn í Kodak-leikhúsinu í Hollywood þann 15. júní en CBS sjónvarpsstöðin mun sýna beint frá hátíðinni.
