New Lazytown Concert in Iceland! (Also Lazytown has finally gone into AI Slop)

Lazytown is opening a new concert in Iceland called "Afmælishátíð Latabæjar" to celebrate it's 30th anniversary. It will feature multiple artists from Iceland to perform Lazytown songs. Ticket sales start on the 23rd. Hopefully someone records it so we don't get yet another white whale.

This would be the end of the post normally, but the poster used struck a wrong chord with me. On Lazytown's Icelandic Website it features a short teaser featuring the main characters in what should be CGI, but it has all the telltale signs of it not being genuine. You'll have to see it for yourself. Anyway, it's not 100%, but I would bet money on it being official AI generated Lazytown content. Honestly, this does NOT make me feel good about the future of this franchise. One of the things I loved the most about Lazytown was the craftsmanship put into it, and to replace it with AI puts a sour taste in my mouth. I attached a (slightly) compressed version of the video, but the uncompressed version the site uses is hosted on Streamable.

EDIT: The Latibaer page seems to have been edited again and now just redirects to the event page. Weird things are happening.

I don't know. It's just a promo for the live show next year. The new actors have not yet been announced or may still be being cast.

Dýri Kristjánsson just announced that he stops playing Sportacus in the Live shows after 20 years.
      October 18, 2025

"Sportacus has been an integral part of my life for the past 20 years. My first exposure to LazyTown was through stunts and stunts on the show, which later evolved into appearing as Sportacus at numerous events around the world. The number of appearances is now rapidly approaching 2,000.

It's hard to pick one thing that stands out from this incredible journey, but the common denominator is undoubtedly the people I've met. It has been invaluable to me to meet all the wonderful event planners all over the country – many of whom are now among my best friends. And of course, the most important thing is the lovely children who have welcomed me with open arms wherever I have been.

I am forever grateful to Magnus Scheving for giving me the opportunity to become Sportacus and for trusting me with that role. I have worked hard to be a credit to Latibær and to use the tools I was given to build this unique career.

It has been a matter of the heart for me to encourage children to live a healthy life through play and fun. If I have had any part in promoting the health of children and adults in Iceland, that is of great value to me.

Now I think it is time to call this a good thing in Sportacus' costume. I am beyond grateful to everyone I have met and worked with – and not least the children, many of whom are now adults."

      Takk fyrir mig.

Enginn er Latur í Latabæ ❤️

I've added the audio from the promo of the 2014 live show. It's the same length.

That actually makes the trailer a little bit better. But still the AI is still AIing (if that’s not a word well I made it a word lol). But I hope the play isn’t too garbage. Unlike some people in the thread, I’m giving hope for this play next year. If Sportacus is a girl like how Buzz rumoured, I’ll be speechless, no words

it would probably be seen as less strange by many if a Miss Sportacus spent so much time with a lil schoolgirl... (>_<)
