It's interesting how many slang terms there are in British English for various denominations of currency. In the US, other than "grand" for a thousand dollars, I never hear slang terms for particular amounts of money.
As far as I know, "nickel" "dime" and "quarter" are official names, not that I hear those anymore either that payments tend to be electronic.l i t t l e

True "buck" is often used. Occasionally you will hear "clams" "simoleons" etc. These are like "quid" in that they refer to the dollar in general, not in any particular quantity. However "sawbuck" for a $10 bill is something I've heard maybe twice in my entire life, and no slang for a 5 dollar bill, 20 dollar bill etc other than "a five" "a ten" "a twenty" which is really just short for "a five dollar bill" and not a different word such as "a tenner" or "a fiver" which you hear in British slang. And they have slang for every coin or even groups of coins.l i t t l e

Years ago a relative gave me a king sized down duvet for my bed. This kind of thing.
It was well intentioned but where I live, it's way too hot to ever use such a thing. I would have to lower the bedroom temperature to 68 or something. My little birds sleep in there with me and I don't like to let it get below 77 or so. I usually sleep with just a sheet and a duvet cover with the ceiling fan on. So I used it like once, felt like I was sweating to death, and put it in an old sea chest that I have. It's sat in there for years "just in case" which is why I generally don't like getting presents. They end up just taking up room and I have to carry them around for years (and I tend to move a lot) because I feel guilty getting rid of them.
Well today I noticed a plant atomizer, that I keep over there on the chest for spraying my air plants, was on its side. A bird must have knocked it over when he flew over there yesterday or the day before. I didn't think much of it, the top was screwed on tight, but when I went to set it back upright, I noticed it was virtually empty and there was some water on the outside. Obviously it had leaked from the nozzle. No visible puddle was on the top of the sea chest or the other stuff there, but there were hairline cracks in the wood and I immediately thought "I bet all the water leaked out and went into that tiny crack and into the chest." I cleared all the stuff off the top of the chest (bachelor, horizontal surface in my apartment = covered with stuff) and opened the lid.
Sure enough the duvet was wet and there were brown spots. Didn't take long for mold/mildew to grow on it once wet. Looked for the label and of course this gigantic thing is "dry clean only."
Well at last I had an excuse to get rid of it so I put it in a black bag, took it down to the dumpster and threw it away. A little more room reclaimed.
Maybe someday I will live in a cold place and will wish I had it back. But I doubt it.

Yeah that's a northern winter climate bed gear. My mom always bought down stuff to the displeasure of her dog.
I'd be sitting there in the side comfy chair my mom in her bed and the dog sleeping down by her feet on top of
the blanket. Watching whatever she had on TV. Until that is, out of a clear blue sky, the dog would pounce up giving off this yelp.
The tip ends of the down feathers would work its way past the thread covering and would poke the dog.
I understood the dog's plight. I don't like down feather stuff for that reason. I've gotten poked in the head
by those feather tips from down pillows. πͺΆπͺΆπͺΆπͺΆπͺΆ

When I was feeling it, it didn't feel like it had those feather tips in it. I think you are talking about feather, not down.

Down doesn't have the quills.
