Someone please tell me i'm not the only one who dislikes Mรฅneskins' interpolation of Frank Valli & The Four Seasons "Beggin'"?
I remember when Mรฅneskin did this song for Eurovision, and I really didn't like it. Although to be honest, I don't much like rock/metal/punk covers in general. Kinda suprising, considering my music taste!
Another thing I realised was that when the Mรฅneskin cover came out, people where talking about the Madcom interpolation from 2007, but not The Four Seasons OG. People seem to think that the cover by Madcom was the OG. I honestly love that cover, but it's not the original.
Is it because nobody listens to 60's Doo-wop? Am I just lame? Surely there is someone my age who likes The Four Seasons (maybe it's just cope at this point)

I've been surprised by some of the ancient stuff Play_z209 and now you have posted. That's some seriously old music. That would be like me in my youth listening to music from the 1920's. When I was in college nobody even listened to The Beatles anymore, even though it wasn't that long before (~15 years), that was already considered old and uncool. And The Beatles were the biggest music group in history at that point. I knew one person who was into them, at one school I attended, but that was it, out of hundreds of people. Everyone else had already moved on (we all heard The Beatles as little kids) to 1970's rock or 80's New Wave.
Is it a thing in Australia to listen to really old American music?
There was a ton of music I hated that I heard only on AM back in the day, when I was stuck in the back seat while my parents were driving the car. I don't even know what it was, just some 60's or 50's stuff I couldn't stand.l i t t l e

Funny you mention The Beatles. They're really popular right now, for the youth. There's been a resurgence of 60's and 70's pop/rock, at least the popular ones (Joy Division, Pink Floyd, David Bowie etc), it's mostly about "aesthetic", not the music however. And of course other music of that era, like bubblegum pop, doo-wop etc aren't popular, doesn't fit the aesthetic. It's also the dog-shit decade we live in. Kids want to go back to a time they never lived through, and music is how they do it.I've been surprised by some of the ancient stuff Play_z209 and now you have posted. As for your question: no. When it comes to older music (pre 80's), it's all Aussie pub rock (AC/DC, Rose Tattoo etc) and it's mostly gen x and older. With few exceptions, if you listen to old US music (or any US country, for that matter), you'll be laughed out of the building. I'm actually pretty embarresed to admit that I like doo-wop for this reason. This is the first time I've told anyone lol.
I should also mention this is from my experience, that being working class country/rural Victoria. I can't speak for city folk, rich arseholes, other states/territories etc.👍 1- Translate
