World’s Biggest Lazy Town Fan On A Pilgrimage To Iceland

There are many different reasons why people visit Iceland, like the nature, Björk, Eyjafjallajökull, the Blue Lagoon or puffin dolls. But not before I met Chris Crow had I heard of anyone coming to Iceland because of the kids TV show Lazy Town.

Crow is a 26-year old IT technician from Denver and he wears the badge of biggest Lazy Town fan in the world proudly. “If there was a bigger one out there I would know about him,” he says.

It was through being the show’s biggest fan that he learned about Iceland. He first came here in 2014, and instead of driving the Golden Circle, climbing the steps of Hallgrímskirkja or searching out a secret hot pool to bathe in, he used all of his time following post production of the fourth and last season of Lazy Town.

That was an interesting read. I'm glad it was in english now so that was easier to understand than the icelandic edition. I'm not sure if it was the same 'newspaper' though.
Magnús: - I have fans of all ages and I don't think it's weird when older people like LazyTown. LazyTown appeals to people for many different reasons: dancing, acrobatics, etc.

Re: World’s Biggest Lazy Town Fan On A Pilgrimage To Iceland

I asked the guy if he could send me the raw recording he took, but I haven't heard back from him. If that's something that anyone is actually interested in hearing I can pressure him some more.

And for those who were talking about the other Icelandic interview, that one was kind of shit so it's not really worth your time finding, translating and reading. What happened was this: they were originally going to come to where I was staying with a cameraman and interview me that way, but they said the cameraman was sick so they just had me answer some text questions, then they used like 2 sentences out of all of my answers, and it made me look dumb I thought. It basically says, "HI MY NAME IS CHRIS AND I LIKE LAZYTOWN BECAUSE IT MAKES ME HAPPY "

So here are the original questions and my original answers for that one if anyone is curious, and I think it makes me seem like less of a retard:

E: What did wake up your interest about Iceland?

C: LazyTown, undoubtedly. Before I got into the brand, I had some basic knowledge about the country, but not exactly an interest. Then as I got more and more interested in LazyTown, that interest bled over into an interest of Iceland. I wanted to know the who, what, where, why, and how of LazyTown, and Iceland is involved in many of the answers to my questions.

E: Why do you like Lazytown? What is so brilliant about it?

C: That's a good question, and an obvious one. I've had years to come up with a good answer to this question, but the best I've come up with is, "I just do." I realize that that is a terrible answer, so maybe I can answer it a little differently. At this point, the concept of liking LazyTown is kind of obsolete to me. LazyTown has become an integral and defining part of who I am. I wouldn't be me without LazyTown, so I care for it as if it was an extension of myself.

E: Have you watch all the Lazytown series?

C: Of course! Several times, actually. As my understanding of LazyTown grows, it is rewarding to watch the series from start to finish with new knowledge because then I can pick up on new things that I had never noticed before, and gain a new appreciation for LazyTown as a whole.

E: When did you start watching lazytown?

C: 2008. I was a little late to the party, but I think I've more than made up for it!

E: Who is your favorite character in the series?

C: Stephanie. It took me awhile to reach that conclusion, but after I did, it was obvious that it had been all along.

E: How much/many lazytown stuff have you gather?

C: You might imagine that I have a room that's plastered with LazyTown posters, with shelves of mint condition toys, a Sportacus bedsheet and Stephanie curtains, but that just isn't me. I'm a little obsessive when it comes to books, CDs, and DVD/VHS, but all in all I have a surprisingly small collection of only things that are special or somehow meaningful to me, and it all fits on a small cabinet.

E: What lazytown stuff is your favorite?

C: Well I think if I told you about my absolute favorite pieces in my collection, I would get some people in trouble! But as I said, a lot of the things that I have are personally meaningful. So for example, I really cherish a little Sportacus piggy bank that I have because it was given to me by the studio manager of Latibær ehf. right off the shelves of their storage lot. Or a pink bracelet that I got from the actress playing Stephanie in a LazyTown Live! show. It's just a piece of cheap plastic, but it makes me happy. It's impossible to pick favorites, but the contenders are all things like this.
