Well if you view it as a matter of national defense, it makes sense. It's like saying states can't regulate jet fighters or uranium. Which tells you something about how dangerous AI is, and how it should never be built.

Well something odd is going on, that RAM prices are quadruple what they were in the summer.
These massive investments are even more foolish than they sound if they are paying quadruple the normal price for everything. A $100 million investment only getting you $25 million of stuff.l i t t l e

βThe idea of this transhumanist strain, that somehow this is going to supplant humans and this other stuff, we have to reject that with every fiber of our being,β DeSantis said Dec. 15 during an AI event in Jupiter. βWe as individual human beings are the ones that were endowed by God with certain inalienable rights. That's what our country was founded upon β they did not endow machines or these computers for this.β
I was waiting for a religious reaction to AI, it has been long in coming, but I did not expect it to come from DeSantis of all people. Thought it would come from the Pope since he had mentioned AI in his first week.l i t t l e

I keep thinking Butlerian Jihad with all this. Interesting. I wasn't expecting this from DeSantis either. He's completely under the table for the Trumpster, who cannot stop using AI to save his own life (at least online). I think he's the first to directly oppose AI in spite of Trump. Although him adding religion into this makes more sense, given his track record
it's the only kinda remotely sane thing DeSantis has ever said imo lol- Translate

Good friggin great damn news
I uninstalled Microsoft Copilot for good. And I'm not using it again. If I wanna fact check or figure something out then I'll research myself. If I want inspiration I'll get it from the internet. If I want movie and book requests I'll get it from people who've actually watched movies and read books. So tired of the misinformation. Not only does me quitting copilot somewhat decrease the water waste by 00000.1% percent and increase the chances of me getting a good job in the future by 0.0000000000000000001%, every little bit helps.

Sam Altman. Sam Altman. Sam Altman. The scoundrel.
Turns out Sam Altman "buying up" 40% of DRAM wafers was actually him writing Letters of Intent. Letters he supposedly had / has no intention of converting to actual purchases now. And memory manufacturers are just getting DUMPED on today - Hardware Canucks.- Be Micron.
- Get excited about Sam Altman singing letters βintendingβ to buy 40% of DRAM.
- Close your entire Crucial consumer memory division so you can sell gamer RAM to OpenAI.
- Sam Altman loses investors, never buys the RAM he signed letters for.
- Google announces breakthrough saving AI 6x the RAM.
- Micron now stuck with all this RAM and no way to sell to consumers.
