yeah, if somehow they target EVERY single website where you communicate, it'd basically be cutting off all human communication
Social media ban under 16 in Australia

The details are still being hashed out. The legislation states that "legislative rules" will have a lot of the implementing details. There is a draft of the rules floating around but I don't see a link to it.
However there are documents responding to the draft, giving advice from
the eSafety Commissioner (that woman with the American accent, Julie Inman Grant)
to the Minister of Communication (Anika Wellsβ)
who apparently is in charge of them.
https://www.infrastructure.gov.au/de...e-safety-rules
It sounds like Wells intends to exempt YouTube for some reason but the advice given by Grant is that she should not.
Without seeing the draft of the rules, or better yet the final rules, it is impossible to tell exactly which services will be restricted.
Interestingly the legislation does not, unlike similar US legislation, just target services using algorithms. It is much broader. It could even affect this site.
(1) For the purposes of this Act, ageβrestricted social media platform means:
(a) an electronic service that satisfies the following conditions:
(i) the sole purpose, or a significant purpose, of the service is to enable online social interaction between 2 or more endβusers;
(ii) the service allows endβusers to link to, or interact with, some or all of the other endβusers;
(iii) the service allows endβusers to post material on the service;
(iv) such other conditions (if any) as are set out in the legislative rules; or
(b) an electronic service specified in the legislative rules
β
So an awful lot depends on what the Minister puts in the legislative rules. You can't tell from just the legislation itself.l i t t l e

To get pass this law, you can always use your parents or an older family member face to decide if youβre older enough to use social media. They will never know the difference >:)An Apple a Day Keeps Sportacus Away!👍 1- Translate

Social media ban is coming to all under 16 in Australia tomorrow, I canβt really say something about it because Iβll probably wonβt be affected.
btw only the popular social media sites are banned including LinkedIn and Twitch as well, but smaller sites like LT forums, Pinterest and Devianart (I think) are still useable when the ban is in placeAn Apple a Day Keeps Sportacus Away!- Translate

So I can still use Internet forums and club penguin. Good
But I've changed my Google account to 17 and using a Japanese VPN. It's not worth getting the weird Uber ads but oh wellsportacus10.lazytown.eu / okdvd.neocities.org- Translate

Well daaa, they only mention the popular ones not random chatting sites except Omegle. Wait your google account wasnβt 10 years older than you at first (age section wise). I always put it 10 years older than me on every platform. Plus, children snitches are reporting to the news stations about how they are bypassing the ban with vpns, Halloween mask and family photos. Literally this 12 year old girl snitching to 7news about, showing a BeyoncΓ© photo and by pass one of the social media face filters with it (the video was on instagram few days ago)An Apple a Day Keeps Sportacus Away!- Translate
