With Halloween, I have trick or treated in my more younger, younger years. Until the 2nd year of high school I completely stopped going out for it, because it was really boring. But I have realised more kids keep coming up to the door and being more of nuisance and greedy pieces of you know what. Every single year it gets worse. I feel like if a house doesnโt have Halloween decorations or candy buckets, leave that house alone and move on. If the whole neighbourhood doesnโt celebrate it then thatโs too damn bad, and get over it and find your free candy somewhere else. This year Iโm putting up a sign on my door which says no candy, honestly especially now where Iโm temporarily disabled and all my body needs is rest right now after that small accident I had last week

possessor of mine thanks for the article, Im glad to know its not just me.
I've always seen America and it's culture as over the top and kinda pathetic (sorry Americans), and I'd hate to see it "infect" other nations, so to speak.
And don't get me wrong, I love learning about other cultures. Like the cultures that immigrants/refugees bring here. But this feels different, this American stuff isn't coexisting with Aussie culture like the aforementioned immigrants/refugees, but invasive and parasitic
LazyPooky oh God, you too? Well, like i said above, glad it's not just me. I imagine it's ten-fold worse on social media, so I steer clear.👍 1- Translate

Play_z209 oh God SAME. Most the kids on my street are normal and dont trick-or-treat, but some do. Thankfully i have a dog who hates strangers and would scare any kid coming to the door lol.
Also, what sane parent would let their kid go to a strangers house to ask for lollies? That's stranger danger 101: if a stranger says they have lollies and offers some to you; run away!
Second also, hope you get well soon! Take it easy, mate- Translate

No bushfires are attacking me lol. The worst ones I remember was in 2019 (you probably donโt remember that one because you were too young) and my sibling said the ones in Victoria in 2009 were worse than that (I wasnโt born yet but my mum was pregnant with me at that time and still had to work in those conditions)https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-12-...er-5/106105352
BUSHFIRE WARNINGS! Stay safe.
Anyways, I swear Australian locals are the best especially in my area. This dude probably around his 20โs - 30โs helped me while I was getting a drink from the freezer. I said thank you to him. And got everything into my other arm that didnโt have a crutch and we both laughed at the situation afterwards. That was the first time I ever had help from a stranger that didnโt just stand and stared at me or said a swear word about me on crutches. Actually Iโm glad that my school friends didnโt act differently as well because of the injury, while everyone else in the grade just stared at me weirdly. Only one person that I wasnโt friends with in the grade asked if I was okay to my friend (Iโm guessing they didnโt want to offend me about the injury)An Apple a Day Keeps Sportacus Away!- Translate

Mate werenโt you 6 years old or something back then. I forgot whatever hell I was doing at 6 years old. Wait. I didnโt do schoolwork and almost failed prep back then and had to eat jellybeans with a teacher aid to pass ๐ true story btw (the NSW schooling system back then is nuts and idk why I brought that up). If you failed prep in primary, then youโll be a Aโs and Bโs student in HS no kidding

Btw I was the dumbest and shortest in the grade. And the only indigenous kid at that school at the time (hints why I was treated differently plus itโs a very very small school not big at all). Now Iโm more on the smarter side but still short (not the shortest tho). Why are HS deputy principal (at my school at least) so rude, like she didnโt have hope for me earning a really special award (a type of award that pays for your senior education that you have to write and send). The old one from when I got enrolled but left last year was so nice, she would of had hope for me
but I ended up getting it anyways
