I wonder how long? The video has been getting good watch time regularly since I uploaded, and it's been over a year now. Surely yt will stop boosting it eventually lol

I haven't been posting art because my drawing tablet went bung and I whinged so hard that I refused to do any drawing for a good few weeks, but here's a Bessie for ya

Wow, she looks absolutely amazing. I’m already impressed in the fact that you can draw digitally. I can only draw on paper, though I’m pretty good at making miniature things out of paper e.g party hats and boats with a YT tutorial. The last thing I made was a miniature version of a paper chain (not very impressive though because anyone can make paper chains)

Play_z209 Cheers! Most digital artists (myself included) start off with traditional art, and I still do traditional. It's difficult learning digital, regardless of traditional skills. It's like learning how to draw all over again!

I don't do paper crafts so I already think you doing chains is impressive haha

You could use a YouTube tutorial, that's what I used when I was your age. Or if you got lucky, you could ask your teacher if they know how to draw (In primary school I used to get the teachers who loved doing art, crafts and performances stuff like dance).

Plus, I can draw cartoony clowns better than people 😭. I mean look at my art on deviantart it’s bad like horrible bad 💀 (btw I always look down at myself as bad drawer so don’t mind that lol)

There's a few thing I want you to keep in mind before you start drawing:

1. It doesn't matter how good you are at traditional art, digital art is a new concept and you'll be starting at zero. This happens to everyone and it doesn't discount your other artistic abilities
2. Constructive critique is your best friend and will be as long as you pursue art. Make sure you can handle others telling you what you can improve at
3. Know the difference between critiques and bullying. Bullying is never helpful and will weigh on you, whether you realise it or not
4. You don't need expensive equipment to make good art. It all comes down to skill, high quality materials simply gives more variety
5. Look at other art from all mediums, time periods and styles. Take inspiration, but...
6. Don't compare your art to theirs. You'll most likely find fault in your art after doing so and hate your work. This WILL kill motivation
7. Be patient. Like all skills, you'll need lots of time and effort put in and you won't see results immediately...
8. Keep your old art and be sure to date it (at least the year). In the future you'll be able to see how you've improved by comparing
9. Don't listen to everything I say. It sounds counter-productive, but everyone has a different art journey. I'm just sharing what worked for me and other artists I know. Just remember; it might not work for you
10. Finally: have fun! If you feel like drawing isn't fun any more, stop or have a break. Art can be mentally and physically demanding

Now, let's get goin'...

1. Choose a programme and device. For devices, I recommend a larger screen, like a tablet. This allows more room for movement. It's fine if you only have a phone, it'll just be more restricted. As for programmes, there's heaps to choose from. Here are the most popular options:

1. ProCreate
2. Fire Alpaca
3. Krita
4. IbisPaint
5. Sketchbook
6. Mediband
7. Clip studio paint

1. Give whatever programme you choose a chance and be sure to try multiple. They're all very different from each other. I use Ibispaint, and if you end up using Ibispaint, I can help you navigate the app
2. Watch/read the tutorials. This might sound like a given, but trust me, so many people just jump in and wing it. It's worth the time
3. Play around. Get used to the ui by doodling, you don't need to really draw anything. Do this until you get used to the ui

That's all I have to say about getting started on digital art. If you have questions about anything (anatomy, shading, colour theory, fabric textures ect), just shoot a message
