You’ve probably already seen that the latest trend sweeping the YouTube sh*tposting world is making weird and unnecessarily complex edits of ‘Bee movie’. Well, we’re here to tell you that Bee Movie memes are for lamewads and amateurs – the actual best meme trend of 2016 is re-editing the LazyTown song ‘We Are Number One’. ‘We Are Number One’ edits are to Bee Movie what heroin is to Red Bull.
We stumbled across these completely insane video a few weeks ago and have been utterly entranced by them ever since. The videos always involve the same video clip (LazyTown villain Robbie Rotten teaching a group of clones how to be evil), which is then edited in ridiculously precise way. Some videos are so insanely specific that the creators have to put the full explanation for what’s going on in the description, because it won’t fit in the title:
Here’s the best part, though: Unlike other forms of insane video editing, these Robbie videos have actually found a practical purpose. The actor who played Robbie Rotten on LazyTown – Stefán Karl Stefánsson – was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September of 2016. A GoFundMe page was been set up to help the actor and his family as he deals with his illness and now ‘We Are Number One’ meme makers, like the madman MrMrMANGOHEAD, have started using their videos as a way to promote the fundraising effort. Pretty sweet, eh?
I'm not sure if someone already mentioned them, but MrMrMANGOHEAD has some really good We are Number One edits. I binge watched a lot of them. I like how they edit Robbie clone's stepping of the branch to include full volume.
