    Stephanie Halloween Costume

I just wanted to share this story that I meant to share earlier.

I dressed as Stephanie last Halloween. Normally I don't start thinking of a costume far enough in advance and I never have anything ready if I get invited out (and I hate throwing on some cheap costume I don't care about), but it'd been on my mind for a year or two to do a Stephanie cosplay, so this year I started accumulating pieces early.

I didn't look good, but it did make me chuckle, and it got a good laugh out of the people I went with since for me it's cross-dressing. They had no idea who Stephanie is, which always surprises me. Even before I was into Lazy Town I at least knew of Stephanie from the memes and online culture surrounding her. It's hard for me to imagine never having heard of her.

We went to a club downtown which sucked because the music was damagingly loud, and there's not much to do except get super drunk (which I didn't) and sway around on the dance floor like an idiot. However, to my surprise, some Argentinian seeming guy came over and asked if he could have his picture with me. I actually asked him "do you know who I am" 'cause I wasn't sure if he just thought my costume was funny, but he did know I was Stephanie from Lazy Town. This made my night. Getting recognized by at least one person made it all feel worth it. Then a while after that I lost my group and went for a walk around the club looking for them. In that brief period I got stopped by a late 20s-early 30s guy standing at the bar with his girlfriend to tell me they liked my costume, and a few moments later I got the same thing from a single woman walking opposite me through the crowd of people. I wish talked to them to find out their relationship with Lazy Town, especially the Argentinian guy, but I'm probably too shy and it was super loud and hard to have a proper conversation.

Anyway, just wanted to report that in a random club in a random big city there are adults in real life who still know who Stephanie is.

Great story. It was immensely popular in South-America (TV, Live shows). That an Argentine would recognize you is obvious, I would say.

The cosplay pieces look good. Perhaps it's my screen but it doesn't look pink enough. More like red.
    Cosplay video now?

Magnús: - I have fans of all ages and I don't think it's weird when older people like LazyTown. LazyTown appeals to people for many different reasons: dancing, acrobatics, etc.

The lighting in the photo is pretty bad, but you're right that the dress is too red. There were only two or three pre-made ones I could find online. This one had the best shape and quality. I like that it has the white hemming on the neck and sleeves, a rear zipper, and real stripes made of different fabrics. In contrast there are others being sold online where whole dress is merely a single piece of fabric with printed stripes. I don't know why it's so hard for them to get the colors right, it seems like it would be so easy, but it did the trick for a halloween costume. All of it was a balance of cost/reward. There were some way better looking Nike shoes out there for $170, but I went for the $25 Amazon pair.

The hardest part was finding tights/yoga pants that fit properly without wrinkling or being to small.

You would not want to see it a cosplay video of this, trust me

I understand how tough it can be to find good cosplay. It was a different time but I heard Viivi13 complain about it years ago and decided to make her own, and still it was hard to find the right colors and fabrics. Perhaps pink fabrics are also more expensive. Although the real cheap ones are kind of plastic material and still not the right color.

I was just kidding about the video 😋
