    The LazyTown Timeline

    LazyTown's timeline. Difficult. Complicated. Long.

But I have made this thread.. and with your help, at least TRY to figure out when the LazyTown episodes happen.

First. We will start with the seasons / time of year.. Then after that we'll go into the order of episodes. Not as they aired, but as they happened.

    Summer
    Season 1

Welcome to LazyTown: Stephanie mentions she is staying for the summer.
Defeeted: Stephanie and Sportacus have been in LazyTown for an entire year. ("so every year in Sportacular Spectacle Day, Sportacus does a cool trick?)
Rottenbeard: ("I can't believe I have to spend my summer here doing nothing!")
    Season 2
    Season 3
    The First Day Of Summer
    Season 4

    Winter
    Season 1

LazyTown's Surprise Santa (It's a Christmas episode and it's snowing)
    Season 2
    Snow Monster (Christmas episode.. snowing..)
    Season 3
Holiday Spirit (Take a wiiildd gueeesss.)

It's easier to have all the episodes listed in their original order.

    S1E03 - Sports Day
    S1E04 - Crystal Caper
    S1E05 - Sleepless in LazyTown
    S1E06 - Swiped Sweets
    S1E07 - Hero for a Day
    S1E08 - Sportafake
    S1E09 - Happy Brush Day
    S1E10 - Lazy Scouts
    S1E11 - Dr Rottenstein
    S1E12 - Rottenbeard
    S1E13 - Cry Dinosaur
    S1E14 - My Treehouse
    S1E15 - The Laziest Town

Speaking of timeline, in the first episode Milford talks about "a hero from the North sea" like Sportacus is a mysterious character nobody's seen in ages, then in the very next episode (Defeeted) everybody's telling Stephanie how Sportacus does a stunt every year for Sports Day like he's lived there all along.

I was going to point out. I think chronologically, the episodes take a different order then how they aired. We should figure out the order of episodes first actually.

Impossible task. It's an episodic show. There's not meant to be a continuing timeline outside the first episode introducing Sportacus and the last episode (of S2) being Stephanie's farewell (I know it's the second to last Episode and she actually stays, but it is really a farewell to Stephanie imo).

For what it's worth, I feel like S1 E15 (The Laziest Town) is set in fall, but maybe that's just because Stephanie has a jacket on the whole time.

Interesting. You make a fair point. It is a Nickelodeon show so the continuity wasn't a big priority for the writers I assume. But JESUS CHRIST. Why is there a flashback from episode 24 .. in episode sixteen??

            What we already know:

Every episode takes place AFTER Welcome to LazyTown .

Soccer Sucker takes place before Dear Diary

Sleepless in LazyTown takes place before Defeeted .

Etc. etc. Maybe with teeny tiny steps like this we can try and get CLOSER to an accurate LT timeline.

Most children's shows are like that. If I remember correctly, the first episode of Spongebob is when he gets his job at the Krusty Krab, and that's very nearly the only lasting development through the first three seasons (the only ones that are any good, as I mentioned in your Nickelodeon thread). Every other episode can be placed interchangeably along the timeline. The only other exception I can think of is when the show introduces Sandy it's made clear this is the first time the characters are meeting her as well.

I forgot about the Soccer Sucker reference in My Diary. It's so obvious, who messed that up?

Why does Sleepless in Lazytown take place before Defeeted? Either I can't remember or it's something I never noticed.

Yeah I'm not a fan of SpongeBob but it did have somewhat good continuity.

Also, I think Sleepless takes place before Defeeted because Steph is teaching Sportacus to play baseball but in Defeeted (3 episodes before this) Milford said Sportacus once got everyone excited about a home run.

I actually remember vividly how frustrating it was as a kid that all the events that happened in my shows would be reset by the next episode. There was no permanence.

The first show I ever watched which had a continuing plot (and permanence between episodes) was Buffy the Vampire Slayerchuft. I also remember this vividly because it was so weird and exciting that the events of an episode would be remembered by the characters and carried forward through the season.

I didn't think about that. The New Yorker teaching the Icelander baseball, how appropriate.

NY is famous for baseball. Makes sense that the New Yorker would be exporting it to the rest of the world. Idk, it wasn't that clever.

It's actually the opposite. It's a priority for the writers that the episodes can be broadcast in any order. It's not like Game of Thrones where people are tuning in every week to see the latest plot developments, these are six year olds who watch whatever random episode is airing at 3 o'clock when they get home from school. I wonder if the LazyTown crew had more ideas that couldn't be added in to meet these goals.

So they were putting in effort but also being effortless. Huh. I get why they did that. Like you said, they wanted for it to be able to watch any LazyTown episode at any time.

There was a LazyPod episode about episodes that didn't make it past brainstorming if thats what you're looking for.

In Welcome To LazyTown it's the Mayor who said that he knew that Sportacus used to be there all the time. The Mayor is old and absent-minded so he forgot his name. The last time Sportacus was there all the time could have been last year or even longer ago. That is what the Mayor referring to. Sportacus used to be there to help everyone to be active and live a healthy life, and when he had accomplished his task he left. That he only came back once a year to do a stunt like in Defeeted, was never mentioned in the first episode. The Mayor forgot he did that. So Defeeted could easily come after the first episode.

Welcome to LazyTown: Stephanie mentions she is staying for the summer. The Mayor suddenly remembers Sportacus and refreshed his memory by reading the history book.
Defeeted: The Mayor remembers that Sportacus always came back to LazyTown once a year on SSD. Oh my.. ("so every year in Sportacular Spectacle Day, Sportacus does a cool trick?)
Magnús: - I have fans of all ages and I don't think it's weird when older people like LazyTown. LazyTown appeals to people for many different reasons: dancing, acrobatics, etc.

This does clear it up a bit and give a pit of possibility that Defeeted takes place after WTLT, But at the end of the first episode Sportacus says he'll stay in LazyTown, signifying he wasn't gonna leave again..

So? Where in Defeeted it was stated that he left again? They were only referring to the other last few times he came back for one day assuming he wasn't around then. But now he probably is.
