LazyTown is in talks with eight other territories - Licensing.biz

    Re: Lazytown Extra 2008 (26 new mini-episodes)

Some more info on LTextra released today by Licensing.biz........

“Each themed episode will be between 11 and 14 minutes in duration - seven minutes of each show being produced by LazyTown Entertainment and the remainder localised in key markets in co-production agreements with broadcast partners.
Still featuring all of the LazyTown characters, the new show features locally produced content in each episode.
Cbeebies is co-producing an English-speaking version, with filming currently taking place around the UK. Once available it is expected to air in several other English-speaking markets and on the Cbeebies channel globally.
LazyTown is also in talks with eight other territories for potential co-production partnerships.
"We are very excited about this new format for LazyTown and delighted by the positive reaction from our broadcast partners," said Magnus Scheving, CEO and creator of LazyTown. "This takes the LazyTown brand in a new direction opening up even more opportunities."”

    Yay!

I'm still wondering, why LTP isn't shooting for a third (full episodes) season though. Nonetheless...we might be getting LT 'extra' over here!

    Thanks for the news!

One question do you think it will end up here in australia? Necause since LazyTown aired in like 2006, LazyTown ended up here like in 2007

It's all going to depend on whether each individual country has the ability or the desire to shoot their own local footage. The countries and individual networks with staff who could go out and shoot something at a soccer stadium or a swimming pool will be able to run these episodes. They are designed to be shown with half-LazyTown and half-local footage.

Does that mean the episodes on other countries will have like mexican children or icelandic children?

                Re: Lazytown Extra 2008 (26 new mini-episodes)

CBeebies has joined forces with the team behind hit kids series LazyTown to produce an exclusive new spin-off show.
LazyTown Extra will be co-produced by Lazytown Entertainment and BBC Children's Scotland for exclusive broadcast on the CBeebies digital channel.

The magazine format show, aimed at 3-6s, will feature LazyTown puppet character Ziggy talking to children from across the UK about their favourite activities.

Filming of these inserts is due to start this summer. Each themed episode will be 14-minutes in length and will feature all the LazyTown characters. Star of the show, Sportacus, will introduce an exercise of the day while Trixie and Stephanie will create recipes in the kitchen.

CBeebies controller Michael Carrington said: "Motivating young children to be active is really important to CBeebies, so when the opportunity arose to inspire them by exploring different physical activities around the UK in collaboration with one of their favourite LazyTown characters, we jumped at the chance."

Magnus Scheving, chief executive and creator of Lazytown, added: "This takes the LazyTown brand in a new direction opening up even more opportunities."

LazyTown Extra is produced by Angela Galvin and executive produced by Sara Harkins in Scotland for CBeebies.
