It turns out, Rapture is located just off the coast of Iceland.
Here is a screenshot of the coordinates in the game. Don't click if you haven't beaten the game yet, unless you want it spoiled.

I got it when it was leaked for the 360 from Toys R Us, but it took about 16 hours the first time and 12 the second.

I am beating it on the PC now.

It wouldn't be half as good reading it as it is playing it. The story is excellent though.
