Speakeasy Chicago server doesn't have high enough bandwidth - I only get around 13 Mbps from it. When downloading from newsgroups or fast sites however I get my full 15 Mbps

                      it's not that leet

The highest I can get in my area (which I don't have) is:

                        25 Mbps download speed
                        1 Mbps upload speed

good dl but up is not as good

anything less than 100 mbps up is unacceptable

Yeah it's really nice actually, but it just doesn't match with the "Nitro" as Shaw cable calls it download speed. Also Shaw caps your dl sometimes...idiots!

Why? Japan, South Korea, and Sweden all have 100/100 Mbps consumer fiber connections these days.

Here is Bredbandsbolaget's page, a large provider in Sweden, for example. They have 100/10 currently but it won't be long before it's 100/100:
                              http://bredbandsbolaget.se/wps/portal/p ... redband100

Japan actually has 1,000 Mbps connections from Yahoo BB in some areas, so does South Korea. I've seen quoted figures of around $60 for the 1 Gbps and $35 for 100 Mbps

I guess if you're content with your shitty U.S. connection that's fine. If you find it "acceptable" then there's no need to worry about the rest of the world kicking our asses.
