This week I was hit with a hard dose of reality. Comments I made on this forum were discovered by some members of SomethingAwful.com, and reported to both my place of employment and the police department in my city.
The comments I posted, as most on here know, were made in jest. But that doesn't change the fact that they were both inappropriate and in bad taste. Sarcasm is difficult to interpret when read over the Internet, and I failed to realize that before making these remarks. "Lazytown" is a refreshing show on Nickelodeon, and in my opinion the best "Educational/Informational" children's program on television. It really is a shame that such a good-natured show is associated with such distasteful remarks, from myself and from many other users online.
While my personal integrity has been harmed during this matter, I'm deeply sorry to say that my place of employment has also been affected. I've degraded my company's integrity with my association and my remarks, but I am now determined to overcome this unfortunate mishap and project both my company's name and my own in good light. As of today, I've changed my screen name on this website in faith that it will further disassociate my online persona with my personal and professional life.
Though my comments online were harsh and wrong, I want to make clear that none of these mishaps have trickled into my life offline. I am not a pedophile. I have never downloaded any type of child pornography, nor have I ever committed any lewd or illegal acts against any underage person in real life. Every personal encounter I've had with a minor has been professional and platonic, and I intend to keep it that way.
In closing, I'd like to apologize to the users of GetLazy.net, the users of SomethingAwful.com, my place of employment, and the state of Wisconsin. My acts have affected every one of these in a negative fashion, and for that I am deeply sorry.
