    Help! Uh... computer stuff...

I'm already prepared to be flamed, SO BRING IT!!!

Anyways, I went out last night and FINALLY bought the Elder Scrolls 4 (Oblivion) GOTY set... which left me broke. I read that it was Vista compatible, so I figured everything would go smoothly. Well, I got home, installed it... and it doesn't work *cries*

Apparently, the Intel graphics card (945GM) doesn't work with many new games... so I gotta get a new graphics card unless I wanna keep playing sucky games for the rest of my lappy's life. The problem is, I DON'T KNOW JACK DIDDILY ABOUT LAPTOP GRAPHICS CARDS!!! Argh!!! Yall are gamers though... well, alot of yall, so could someone give me some advice? What would be my best choice in this situation?

That integrated chipset will not work at all. It doesnt have any vertex shaders. That game is unusable on your laptop BUT! if anything at all was to work it would be a mod called oldblivion, look it up.

That really sucks though. Spending all that money and not being able to play it. Word of advice, before buying any game do a google search on it and read any issues and make sure that you are fully compatible.

However, with the new crop of games coming out, might be time to upgrade the laptop or just get a dang desktop.

I'm probably gonna buy a desktop. It just sucks cuz I bought my laptop about 7 months ago. I'm starting college soon too, so I'm trying to save money in case the state of Georgia doesn't pay for ALL my tiution and whatnot. Oh well... thanks for yall's help though!

Yeah I know. Money's pretty tight all around especially for students. I'm planning to upgrade this January with my bonus money from work.

I'm wondering what ever happened to laptops with upgradeable video cards. I read like a year or two back that they were working on that and I think in fact already had models.

They do, its not even openly advertised. It will say something along the lines of PCI-E bus. My friends alienware when i popped the back off had what looked to be a regular 6600 for a desktop.

Ah, not so fast. Now I got this problem where it crashes everytime I exit a place and enter the great outdoors. I even tried a few cheats. I'm sure it just got something to do with the lighting and rendering and such, so I'm just gonna mess around with it.
