i doubt it will be torrented so hopefully someone recordered it some form and could possibly uplaod it somewhere.

and WOW i never knew they did the msuic to the BBC adverts, ive always said that music was good but never knew it was by a band, i always thought it was something BBC made for themselves.

Yeah I watched it, and I have it on Sky+ but again I'm so technically incompetent I have no idea how to get it from there onto t'interweb (but I can send you a DVD again if you want to do it for me!!).

Their music just moves me to tears. It's hauntingly beautiful and I love the way the tracks build up from slow and quiet to this kind of crescendo of noise, then abruptly end, leaving you wanting more.

Have you got the new album yet? I downloaded it yesterday and it's been on repeat ever since.

The BBC trailer was where I heard them first, found out it was called Hoppípolla and went out and bought "Takk..." straight away. I think "Ágætis Byrjun" is my favourite album but "Hvarf/Heim", the latest one is outstanding.

No, and they didn't do my two favourites either (Viðrar vel til loftárása and Sæglópur, in case you're wondering). They mainly showed stuff from the new album, plus they showed Hoppípola quite a lot as that's what they're most well known for in the UK, and then it finished with the live set of Starálfur that they did at the BBC Electric Proms in London last month.

I'll send it to you Stevilito - the film sticks for a second at 18:16 I think it was, but that's just because Sky+ boxes are shit.

I think pretentious is a bit harsh, personally. Jónsi says himself in the documentary that the made up language is just "bullshit" - it's just sounds he sang while they were coming up with music but before they wrote any lyrics (which does beg the question, why did they then leave it on there and not record proper lyrics anyway, it has to be said). I think his voice is just another instrument, regardless of what he's singing, and let's face it, his falsetto style means it's hard to hear exactly what he's singing anyway. Seeing as I don't speak Icelandic, he could be singing anything at all and I usually end up singing what it sounds like in English (on Hljómalind on the new album it sounds like he's saying "your eyes on my phone" so that's what I find myself singing).

As for the BBC killing them for you, is that because suddenly they're known the world over? I'm not looking for an argument, I'm genuinely curious. Does the fact that they're now well-known detract from their music? Only if they change their style as a result, which I hope they don't, but I don't think they will anyway. Those BBC trailers are how I found out about them - I bought Takk on the back of that music and then got the rest of their stuff. I agree that Agaetis Byrjun is the best album and I don't think Takk is as good, but I wouldn't have found out about them if it wasn't for the "Planet Earth" series.

They make music because they want others to hear it, lets face it, and I think that track was used very well with a nature programme. Most of their videos feature the Icelandic landscape and I think the nature of their music fits very well with that kind of image. They say themselves in the documentary that they don't want to "sell out" their music but that David Attenborough is a hero so they were pleased that the BBC used it. They turn down requests to use their music all the time apparently.

They're definitely an acquired taste though - my husband says he can listen to 2 or 3 tracks but then the "wailing" starts to grate on him, whereas I can lose myself in it for hours on end. I even listen to it when I'm at the gym - makes a change from the usual Hed Kandi stuff they have on the main speakers there but played loud on your earphones it really is fantastic music.
