I recognize his name, but I never found out who he was. He sounded like an interesting fellow.

Another sad and tragic loss of a very talented and creative mind. :(

I loved Clarke’s 2001: A Space Odyssey novel. It was an immensely enjoyable read when I was a child, couldn't put it down. Progressed from sticks to thermonuclear warheads to omnipotence; it had everything. Including a killer robot.

My favourite SF author - I'm actually reading a collection of his short stories at the moment - superb stuff. A great visionary & thinker.

“He was one of a generation of remarkably good science fiction writers, but I think he was one of the best known and, indeed, the best in the world.
He made things seem real. I think the reason that 2001 will be remembered for a very long time, both the book and the movie, was that before then spaceships, you could see the string. It wasn't really taken seriously.
He saw the things that he had forecast come to pass - not all of them, but certainly the artificial satellite in synchronous orbit, was one of his ideas and so he's perhaps, quite well known, as - if you like - one of the founding fathers of the space age.” - TERRY PRATCHETT, AUTHOR

"It may be that our role on this planet is not to worship God, but to create him." - Arthur C. Clarke

He has achieved immortality through his stories.
