So far the only con I have with windows 7 but it's only the 64bit version (as well as the 64bit version of vista) is they disable your device and drivers if your particular hardware company didn't pay up to microshaft to have their drivers certified. I have to turn that off using F8 on boot in every bloody time.
Other than that Windows 7 has been pretty sweet and no problems whatsoever so far. I'm loving the movie files for my desktop background.
Make sure you download the mpeg or wmv version and if you haven't seen my other thread on how to activate this feature viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2428 the link is for the instructions is right over the screenie of stephanie.
I do not play games on computers because there is nothing serious about playing games on computers...If you want to play, go outside and play with your friends.
It looks like a Vista service pack except from the new taskbar. Still motivation is needed to uninstall all bloatware and install all the software (office, photoshop, java, flash, pdf, printers blah..), and configuration. It's really boring :( Good thing is that WMP support MP4, and maybe QuickTime finaly can be skipped for good.

That kid is not as smart as he thinks he is. The true mark of genius is that of playing games. Besides, that's assuming you can round up your friends to play on a whim and there are other mitigating circumstances to that comment as well.
Bought Windows 7 today because I was too curious. Installing was easy, got a little problem with the sound and my virusscanner was not compatible (but I still run it because I have no other).

Home , pro or something else (big black box with label "ultimate"?) ?
And (if that's not a secret) - how much gold it cost?
And last question - why you update to W7? ;)
:2bong:
I had winXP professional and I have now the Win 7 professional. A friend of mine has a student licence, there were two versions available (ultimate and professional) and bought the Ultimate version for about €75, and I got the Professional for about €55. Don't know why upgrade now, just have the software and want to try it. If I don't like it I install XP again.

Use ESET NOD32 Antivirus. The best there is and lightning fast.
Have purchased Windows 7 and new computer a week ago, but not unpacked yet winter seem to be the laziest time of year, when bears hibernate and humans ... whatever

That is what I use for a few years now, with XP and Vista there was no problem but win 7 says it's not compatible. Maybe the big ol' internetz gives me the answer.
The manufactory of my PC gives me all the drivers I need but that wasn't necessary, almost everything worked. I just needed one driver, only for the soundcard this time because that didn't work directly, the rest was ok. Unfortunately there were only XP and Vista drivers for it, so I took the Vista one but that didn't work. But lucky for me, the manufactor of my soundcard updated their site with a win7 driver
For the rest I haven't got any problems with incompatibility.
It looks a bit like Vista, true, but it seems I don't loose so much control of everything or maybe I want to believe that... I need to try it for a week now to give you a good overview.
