why not force Microsoft to offer up a choice for every damn thing you want to do?
Just fill a complaint to the commission. The browser choice was a result from Opera's antitrust complaint. Most large businesses have large problems.
Right, the European Competition Eurocommissioners have their task to give every business a fair change, to ban the monopoly(1) of certain companies. It's all about the money dear. What I said is just convenient for us 'dumbasses' as a result of that.

(1)Monopoly: When a single institution becomes so powerful, that it has total control over a certain commodity, service or industry. This can't actually exist, because it can't ever be truly 100%. At least, not until we live in a futurisitic dystopia where the government/corporations/intelligent computers/big-headed aliens use mind control, rayguns and/or the Matrix to enforce control, haha
An example of an "Almost-monopoly" is Microsoft, who many people say have a monopoly of the PC OS/browser market. This isn't actually true, as a small percentage of people use Macs, Linux PC's cq Firefox, Opera browsers. But it's still too much.

For companies operating in free markets, profit maximization always is. For us, it's all about maximization of labour (if you read between lines). Because of the incomplete information companies can approach monopoly as they have fixed clientele, where only a small extent examine products in other competing companies. This because it costs "time and money" to keep themselves informed about such matters. This gives companies a degree of leeway. Now EU made an product examination and informed about matters. That's probably the theoretical version of it.

I got my update today about the browser choice and they send you to an internetpage:
        http://www.browserchoice.eu/BrowserC...rchoice_en.htm
This link goes to the screen where you can choose to install the english browsers, if you want to change the language you need to change that in the URL.

You can select which browser you want to install:

I like how all the descriptions of the browsers are written as advertisements.

All patches (maybe) shall be done at least in several weeks.

Russian use Opera. Mostly. It's really our statistic - 30-40% Opera , over 60% IE
                                Mac-users use Safari.
