    That was fun

Computer crashed the other day so I've been out of the loop for a while. Just got it back up to snuff a little while ago.

I YTMND'd it to death I do believe. It couldn't handle the pressure. :)

        Take a break then lol.

Was it like a harddrive crash or was it like a OS crash?

Actually, I had sent a set of memory in for repair or replacement. I picked it up last year from newegg along with a new system build. Has a lifetime warranty. Got it back a few days ago from the manufacturer and the system seemed fine. I even did a mem86 test on it that lasted 6 hrs and not a single error. Turned the computer on very early yesterday morning and it just kept locking up when it got into windows. Ended killing the OS install because of it. Check all the hardware and everything seemed fine. Did an OS reinstall and worked for a little then it kept doing the same thing.

I stuck back in this cheap set I had picked up from comp usa that I've been using since January (when my original memory went bonkers) and redid everything again. Everything is running smoothly. Worked on it for most of yesterday and started installing things back on it today. Got it back to around 75%.

Very time consuming is all I can say. I was dreading this. Sad though the memory that's giving me trouble is rated at 2-3-2-5. What I'm going to do, when I've got nothing better to do that is, is put the memory back in and clock it down a tad in the bios just to see if it's actually my mother board that can't handle it anymore. If I can get it to run at say 2.5-3-2-5 that would be fine. The memory I got from comp usa is rated at 3-3-3-8 something like that it didn't have any speed markings on the package and I called the company to find out the specs and they were reluctant to tell me the speed at first (I can see why now). But my system seems to run fine.

yeah, CPU-z Tells you the timings on the RAM too.

That really sucks dude, I've heard that to really test ram you need to run of for 24 hours.

My ram timings are 2 - 2.5- 3 - 5. Thats up from my original of 2-3-3-8 and i really did not notice that much of an improvement so its not that bad.

Yeah, the 3-3-3-8 is not too bad with the video and audio stuff but I do notice the difference in the games a bit. But I've been doing more audio and visual stuff as of late so not a big deal except for loosing a day and half.

Don't mean to bump this but I went and did it again. I picked up a new sound card the creative X-fi fatality pro and decided to try the faster system memory again, since I was mucking around with the computer anyway, but this time I clocked the CAS down on it. Nope, didn't work crashed my system again. Just finishing up now yet again reinstalling the OS and everything. I think I shan't touch this computer again until I'm done making as much as I can.
