A hermaphrodite can either be male or female and being either one means predominantly having a majority of that sex's sexual organs. So if you were a female hermaphrodite, you couldn't possibly impregnate yourself, as you could not possibly contain all the bodily facilities to produce sperm and fertilise with it. Likewise, if you were a male hermaphrodite, you could not possibly do so without the female reproductive organs.

Think about it. You couldn't possibly have it ALL in one body, right? Right?

There's only a relatively small amount of overlap.
