        = ::: (

Work Internet = Does-Not-Allow-teh-Funz (i.e. I don't know wtf is up at my work but it doesn't allow IRC)

HEY...I just thought of something...maybe I can listen in TeamSpeak but just not respond (Left the mic at home). Although if I can't get IRC to work at school, I don't have much hope for TeamSpeak.

No, no, I'm using the same laptop as I use at home, here at work, but it does not allow IRC chat to connect when I'm here. In other news, I just tried connecting to TeamSpeak and it gave me the same type of Error message as it gave me when I tried connecting to IRC chat.

Bah, I forgot to give you the links before. It's a little complicated, but the concept is like using a proxy, which is like using someone else's computer to access the internet. 2 methods that I have seen: SSH tunnel and HTTP tunnel. Here's an example:

You setup another computer to receive and send stuff for you (Bob's Computer). Let's use IRC as an example, then you use your laptop while at school (using their internetz) to access Bob's computer, and Bob's computer will access IRC for you. Once Bob gets a message, he passes that along to your laptop. Badda-bing, badda-boom, you're technically accessing IRC.

Not sure if this would work with Teamspeak, in theory it would, but I haven't looked it up yet. There might be a port issue to worry about. Also, there's a chance that your school will just flat out block this stuff! By the way, Chatzilla will use the same proxy that Firefox will use.

Here's some semi-complicated guides, I haven't even read it all yet!:

              GNU HTTPtunnel v3.3 Windows Binaries
A Comparison of Free SSH and SCP Programs for Windows 9x, NT, ME, 2000 and XP

You can always pay for a service: http://www.http-tunnel.com/html/solutio ... client.asp

              It's a bit of work.

Well, Nindan, I think that last post settles it. I'm gonna hafta marry you. You're just too good to me.

I'll definitely have to try this once I've found where my old desktop is. (Am currently uncertain about its whereabouts.) Or I might use it with one of my sisters' laptops since they never seem to use them.

It won't be 'till a little later that I can try this, though. Especially if it's gonna take me a while to figure it out. I'll probably be using you for more help.

I'm at work. I work at my university. They're apparently scared of IRC and don't allow it - even though I'm on my own laptop.

nindan's helping me find out a way to make it work but neither of us is positive it will and it'll probably take a while. (I have to find my desktop and set it up at home for it to work. Something about proxy.)

If there's chocolate fountain, then a splatter guard might be needed.

Anywho, from what it sounds like, your university allows HTTP stuff. So an HTTP tunnel should be tested first. However, I have been thinking, maybe you can try some stuff like a IRC Java applet while at school to see if these work. Here's just a site:

                            http://irc.netsplit.de/webchat/?net=syn ... 23lazytown

That site is already ready to connect to synIRC and #lazytown, so just type in a nickname, click that Start web applet button and you're on your way. Then Java will load and junk. There's also a chance that Windows or Java will say something about a lack of a digital signature. You will have to click on Run for the Java app to continue.

There's another thing that might be testable. It won't prove anything unless your university actually blocks it. You can test out a proxy site and see if that proxy is allowed. Here's 2 sites that uses a proxy for you for HTTP stuff:

                            http://anonym.to/?http://www.ninjaproxy.com/
                            http://anonym.to/?http://www.iphide.com/

iphide.com seems to allow Java stuff. I just tried iphide with the IRC java app, and it didn't work. Java did load up, so it's something worth trying just in case it does work.
