  • UK8 - Sportacus on the Move Encodes [XviD and x264]

Howdy! I guess this will be the last UK DVD I encode ever since Magnus Scheving said there were Blu-ray discs coming for LazyTown. This will also be my last UK DVD to encode, and I'll be doing things a little differently. Before that, I'll give an order of the posts. They will be as follows:

    Post 1: Introduction (This Post)
    Post 2: Episode Download Links
Post 3: Music Clips Download Links
Post 4: Information MD5 Checksums and Credits for the US Audio
Post 5: Help with Playback, .RAR Files, Downloading, and Other Stuff

The encodes I make usually has 2 versions: the more compatible XviD version, and the not-so-compatible x264 version. XviD can usually play on more computers and hardware whereas x264 requires more power and isn't as compatible. However, I do try to encode the x264 versions to be compatible with XBMC, the PS3, and the Xbox 360.

I always try to have 2 audio tracks, the first will always be the US track and the second will always be the UK track. More information and help can be found in Post 5.

For those new to downloading split .RAR files, make sure you download all the parts into the same folder, then extract them. More info in Post 5.

Some interesting information about US audio and widescreen versions of LazyTown episodes, I'm not including Iceland in this because the DVDs there aren't as easy to buy. There has been no US Widescreen or US DVD release of E34 Sportacus on the Move, and E04 Crystal Caper, only a US broadcast. No US Widescreen version of E33 Ziggy's Alien and E06 Swiped Sweets. No US Widescreen of E17 Zap It!. Except Australia has released a US Widescreen version of E04 Crystal Caper and E17 Zap It!.

Alright, what I did different was just making a 1024x576 XviD version of the music clips and only one 1024x576 encode of E04 Crystal Caper. I won't be making anymore of those!

Re: UK8 - Sportacus on the Move Encodes [XviD and x264]

Before you click the download links, you'll have to know about Multiupload.com. It allows me to have multiple mirrors for a file easily. Normally, I just upload to Megaupload and Mediafire only. With Multiupload, I can upload to Multiupload and they will upload to Megaupload, Mediafire, and more websites. This makes things way easier for me and gives you several choices to download without having to wait as long. :)

If you're new to the encodes I make, then you'll want to get some samples first to see if your computer can play it. I will link to 3 different samples with different resolutions but all with two audio tracks. If both audio tracks play at the same time, then you might need to install something. Refer to the Help post for help and potential solutions.

    Samples:

    XviD 768x432 Sample
    lt_e34_move_sample_768.avi (5.1 MB)

    XviD 1024x576 Sample
    lt_twenty_sample_1024.avi
    http://anonym.to/?http://www.multiupload.com/BPD5WEGLUT

Personally, I recommend the x264 versions if your computer can handle it. If not that, then XviD 1024x576 version if available, then the XviD 768x432 version.

A quick explanation of the naming scheme I use. We'll use this filename as an example:
    LazyTown.E34.Sportacus.on.the.Move.UKDVD8.(WS.XviD.Dual.Audio.768x432).avi

    Key:
    E34 = Episode 34
Sportacus on the Move = Episode Title
    UKDVD8 = 8th UK DVD
    WS = Widescreen
Dual Audio = Two Audio Tracks
768x432 = Resolution of the video

    For the x264 encodes:
Anamorphic means the video resolution is 720x480 but stretches to 853x480 on playback giving a widescreen picture.

Information on MD5 Checksums, and Credits for the US Audio

        MD5 Checksums Information:

For more information on what an MD5 Checksum is and more, check out this link: http://anonym.to/?http://md5summer.org/help.html

About the MD5 Checksums, I linked to tinypaste which will allow you to save the paste as a text file. It's possible to rename the .TXT extension to .MD5 which you can use with md5summer. One possible method is to just run the .MD5 text file when it's in the same folder as the files you want to check, after installing md5summer first. You will see "errors" for certain files because they're missing, no need to download those extra files unless you want to. There are other ways and methods, but I'll leave it up to you to try out what works; feel free to ask questions too. Please note that the # sign is a comment line for md5summer, so it won't read it and it allows me to leave notes in the file.

        Credits for US audio:

E34 Sportacus On The Move: null
        Other Potential Source: Skootch

        E33 Ziggy's Alien: US DVD

Re: UK8 - Sportacus on the Move Encodes [XviD and x264]

          Mini-Help Guide

          Downloading Help
Are the files you downloaded not acting right? Here are a few things to check:
          1. Make sure the file you downloaded is the same file size as the one in the link. I give the file size Multiupload sees up there, compare it with the file you downloaded.[/*:m:ca026]
          2. If it's a multi-part .RAR archive, make sure they're all in the same folder.[/*:m:ca026]
          3. Don't know what a .RAR file is? It's like a box that can hold computer files. Split .RAR files are like a jigsaw puzzle. You can use WinRAR or RarZilla to extract the contents. You can find them here:
            http://anonym.to/?http://www.rarlab.com/ [Shareware]
            http://anonym.to/?http://www.philipp-wi ... _unrar.php [Freeware][/*:m:ca026]
          4. Still have problems? Check the MD5 Checksums I gave and compare it to the one you have.[/*:m:ca026]
          5. If all the above checks out, then you might have a Playback problem. Please, go on to the next section.[/*:m:ca026]

          Playback Help
You're hearing 2 voices or the videos aren't playing like you expected? Here are some things to try out, organized by section:

          a) Windows Media Player user (WMP):
You're probably hearing 2 voices or an echo. WMP can't handle 2 audio tracks. Solution: Use another player (next section) or use the Morgan Multimedia Stream Switcher (MMSS). You can find MMSS at these websites:

          http://anonym.to/?http://www.morgan-mul ... /index.htm
          http://anonym.to/?http://www.free-codec ... itcher.htm

          b) Easy solution, just download and install VLC Media Player. No codecs need to be installed since it handles it internally. You can find it here: http://anonym.to/?http://www.videolan.org/

          c) Intermediate solution, install a codec pack and use the media player that comes with it. People have their own preference, but I recommend the K-Lite Codec Pack, Standard version. You can find it here: http://anonym.to/?http://www.codecguide ... oad_kl.htm. I also recommend reading the F.A.Q. and other information while you're there.

          How to Switch Audio Tracks
I normally include 2 audio tracks for the videos, except for certain music clips where there are no puppets singing or talking. If you're using MMSS, you must have already read the information at those websites. If you didn't, go back and read it!

If you're using VLC Media Player, go to the Audio menu at the top, go to Audio Track and choose which one you want to listen to.

If you're watching the XviD AVI version, and you're using Media Player Classic (MPC), then go to the Play menu, Audio, and then choose the track you like.

If you're watching the x264 MP4 version, you'll notice a white box appear in the bottom right (tray icon?). That should be Haali Media Splitter. Right-click on it once and you'll see the different tracks. Choose the audio track of your choice.

There are other ways to change the audio track, so find what works for you.

          Subtitles Information
Want to view the English subtitles on playback?
You only need to have the .SRT file to have the same file name (not extension) as the video file, and VLC or MPC will play it. Here are 2 examples of what would work:

          1)
          Video203.avi
          Video203.srt

          2)
          Video203.avi
          Video203.English.srt

This is an example that would not work:
          Video203.avi
          Video_file_203.srt

Please note that for subtitles to work with MPC, you will need VSFilter (or VobSub) to be installed; the K-Lite Codec Pack already installs it, so it is not a problem.

          Multiupload Information
Why Multiupload.com? Because it lets me upload a file and then they will upload that same file to several other webhosters. It will also let you download without having to wait long. Rapidshare makes you wait 15 minutes between downloads and Hotfile makes you wait 15-30 minutes between downloads.

Multiupload isn't always perfect, sometimes it doesn't upload to the website I want it to. Or it does and the other website doesn't accept it.

Personally, I recommend downloading in this order: Mediafire, Megaupload, Hotfile, Rapidshare, and zShare. As always, you can have your own choices.

[Update, 01-28-2010]: Mediafire is no longer an option at Multiupload.

Want to delete an audio track?
I had a complaint once about the US audio track being in the episode, and how the user hated it. People have their own preferences, so I made a guide or two on how to change or delete an audio track. That user never replied back whether they found the guides useful or not. I will link to them here:

http://anonym.to/?http://www.getlazy.ne ... f=1&t=1160 [How to Change Audio Tracks with VirtualDubMod]
          http://anonym.to/?http://www.getlazy.ne ... f=5&t=1633 [How-to Guides Listing (Work-in-progress)]

You can also use VirtualDubMod to change the order or delete an audio track for AVI files only. Just go to Streams > Streams list, and "Disable" or "Move up/down" which track you want. Disable will delete the audio track when you save it. Make sure you choose "Direct Stream Copy" under the Video Menu so that VirtualDubMod doesn't encode the video.

          You can find VirtualDubMod here:
