Forgot to say this but in high school some schools don’t do mandatory HPE for all grades. While others it’s mandatory until senior year (which for me it’s not mandatory next year). In primary all schools have to do mandatory HPE for all year levels. Every school does different HPE things like track and field (which is the most popular one), soft ball/cricket/baseball (another popular one), tennis (a few schools I know have it), gymnastics (I only know one primary school for doing that one), swimming (mostly mandatory in primary school only) and other sports- Translate

I know a few people who hide their phones but hotspot their computers. Today in HPE since I have an exemption for the physical part of it. A few people who didn’t want to do HPE but have permission to sit out today. One of them hotspot their computer to watch Netflix with me and my friend. We watched ‘White chicks’ for the whole lesson while everyone else were playing in the hot sun (which sucks for them and I don’t care excepted for two of my friends)- Translate

The fact that phones are banned from Australian schools but my science teacher still allows them in class is cool because finally I can get back to listening to my own music while doing class work (though I only use it when science is the last class of the day and at the last part of lesson because my science class gets to crazy by that time)- Translate

Haha same (I started school last week on Wednesday). One cool thing I get to do is Dance this year. And this year’s topic is Children music which, yes I can do LT songs. I’m still deciding on what song to choose for my own choreography. So near term 2 I’ll put a thread about your guys suggestions about which song and dance I should do (btw there’s a can’t do list either because there’s no dance or its a group/partner dance).- Translate

Btw some aboriginals also do celebrate it too but most choose not to (although I do think doing riots for the day to change is a bit to much in my opinion). Anyway, I saw videos of people on Aussie day calling the firefighters for water for their slip n slides. Which was cool of firefighters for actually doing that- Translate

Those interested in history may be interested to know the British themselves are the result of many invasions and conquests. The earliest people in the British Isles walked there when it was not yet an island due to the Ice Age. Their descendants built Stonehenge and other prehistoric wonders. They were invaded and conquered by various tribes of Celts, like the Cornish, the Belgae, the Caledonians, Scots, Picts, Irish, and Welsh. They in turn were invaded by the Romans who created the Romano-British civilization in what is now England. That gave way to the Germanic invasions of the Jutes, the Angles, and the Saxons. The Anglo-Saxon peoples ruled most of Britain for awhile but were raided and invaded by Scandinavians such as the Danes and the Vikings. Finally some Vikings who had conquered northwestern France, called the Normans (or "Northmen") invaded in 1066 and conquered England under William the Conqueror. The invasions did not stop there, but from then on they were repulsed: the Grand Armada of the Spanish was defeated by the English fleet of Queen Elizabeth I in the 1600's, and in the early 1800's Napoleon's France tried in invade but was defeated by the British fleet under Admiral Nelson at Trafalgar. The Germans tried to invade in 1940 but could not establish air superiority due to losing the aerial Battle of Britain.
As for Australia, if the British hadn't shown up, it would probably have been some other colonial power, like the Dutch, the French, the Germans, or the Spanish, all of whom were active in the Pacific. The Germans in fact controlled the nearby Bismarck Archipelago, German New Guinea, and the island of Rabaul, which later become Australian protectorates. It's hard to find a scrap of land anywhere that hasn't been invaded or fought over, usually many times. Seems to be the human way. I'm sure they've taught you about the Japanese invasion of New Guinea and the bombing of Darwin.- Translate
