    Censorship and bans in games

I heard rumblings about this with ToSes. Looks like the companies are doing the slow creep so people don't notice.
Luckily there are lots of people keeping an eye on these companies. These ToSes have gotten really out of control just generally.

Thought Crime BANS in Video Games?! League of Legends Goes TOO FAR with Draconian ToS?!

It's one of the channels I listen to regularly.

Also, remember that people have been banned from this very forum for things they did elsewhere. There is nothing new or sinister about that. Actions and words have consequences. That goes back long before the internet.

Idk honestly, I have a fear that the government would have more reasons to ban YT. If TikTok does shut down in the U.S. And I don’t know why they are talking about video games because that’s not on the ban list. The thing that I wish was on the ban list is Snapchat of all things

The video is talking about content based censorship. People being banned because of things they said elsewhere (although the video almost immediately goes into fantasy scenarios not the actual case). What is happening in Australia is age-based censorship. It has nothing to do with what you say or do, it's strictly based on age. The two concepts are not related.

Yeah, wasn’t that tin foil hat video the one on the ‘what you listening thread’? Or the video game character on top? Because both doesn’t match up with the age law much

The video posted in the listening thread is a song by Weird Al poking fun at conspiracy nuts.

The video posted in this thread is a bunch of conspiracy nuts talking about hypothetical bans of people from games based on offensive things they said and did in other online places.

That's because what they have brought up has already happened and is happening.
Take for example social media companies. They communicate with each other.
You post a video someone doesn't in those companies you will get banned and then
all of a sudden you get banned off all the other platforms. And it's not just relegated
to social media. Somehow the payment systems got involved. You find yourself
              essentially de-banked.

The British government is right now in fact going after meme posters.

There are posts in that thread with links to some of the examples going on.

There's a lot going on in the world right. This is just a little taste.

I'm not going to watch a ten minute video and sift through reddit comments. If you have some evidence you want to share, share it directly, I'm not going to do your work for you. I will assume no one has been banned for anything until you supply the proof yourself.

The video you posted earlier immediately went off into hypotheticals of the tin foil hat variety.

In any case as I said, people have been banned from here for stuff they do elsewhere. That is normal and has always been the case. Actions and words have consequences. That is as it should be. You can't stand in the street yelling racist epithets and then expect to walk back into the building where you work and have no consequences. That is naive or worse.

Britain does not have freedom of speech like the US has the 1st Amendment, it is not comparable. Freedom of speech only protects against government censorship in any case, not private people or companies deciding they don't like you. You have no right to say whatever you want on other people's or companys' platforms or games.

I already knew about all the source material in that Reddit thread. It just makes
for a simple convenient single location. I use whatever link that has that.

There's no sources in the video (I checked) and I can't find anything about this anywhere, except twitter. And god damn what a flimsy source twitter is

Honestly I just don't trust the video

What were you looking for in the video? It was basically Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) going on about censorship.
It's not a new video but from 6 years ago. I remember seeing it a while ago. The comments have plenty of news links.

Website names, specific journalists ect. I was mostly talking about the video description, where most people keep there links/sources. I didn't bother with the comments, it feels a bit silly turning to the comments for sources

If I missed something in the video please tell me

The video at the top of the thread has been made "Members-only content" so no one else can watch it. This thread should probably be locked, the basis for the conversation is not even viewable anymore.
