    My view of AI (6)

Behind the Curtain: Top AI CEO foresees white-collar bloodbath

Dario Amodei โ€” CEO of Anthropic, one of the world's most powerful creators of artificial intelligence โ€” has a blunt, scary warning for the U.S. government and all of us:
    • AI could wipe out half of all entry-level white-collar jobs โ€” and spike unemployment to 10-20% in the next one to five years, Amodei told us in an interview from his San Francisco office.
    • Amodei said AI companies and government need to stop "sugar-coating" what's coming: the possible mass elimination of jobs across technology, finance, law, consulting and other white-collar professions, especially entry-level gigs.

    In July 2023 chuft wrote:

Disaster unless something is done politically.

    From the article:

Hardly anyone is paying attention. Lawmakers don't get it or don't believe it. CEOs are afraid to talk about it. Many workers won't realize the risks posed by the possible job apocalypse โ€” until after it hits.
    • "Most of them are unaware that this is about to happen," Amodei told us. "It sounds crazy, and people just don't believe it."

The big picture: President Trump has been quiet on the job risks from AI. But Steve Bannon โ€” a top official in Trump's first term, whose "War Room" is one of the most powerful MAGA podcasts โ€” says AI job-killing, which gets virtually no attention now, will be a major issue in the 2028 presidential campaign.
    • "I don't think anyone is taking into consideration how administrative, managerial and tech jobs for people under 30 โ€” entry-level jobs that are so important in your 20s โ€” are going to be eviscerated," Bannon told us.

Or just NPCs in general. No more prescripted dialogue that begins repeating
itself after talking to it a few times. Or prescripted routes.

No more "I use to be an adventurer like you until I took an arrow to the knee" for the billionth time.

This has gone under the radar of a lot people. At the Nuclear press conference this comment rather sent shivers down my spine.
Hooking up Ai to near infinite power. Yup, seems like nobody is paying head to all the decades of warnings. Maybe it's just me.

No reaction to an AI NPC Darth Vader in Fortnite? That you can talk to in your headphones and it answers in his voice, no typing required? Isn't that your dream?

I already knew about it. When Vader showed up in that game and what the kids were doing with him ๐Ÿ˜„

Plus there's already been AI NPC companions in Skyrim for a couple of years now (videos floating around I've posted).
There's even an AI Laura Croft for Tomb Raider.

One of the pros for AI. For gaming. The NPCs won't be stuck on some ever repeated dialogue or action loop.

I don't recall you posting any such videos. Certainly not in this thread. Just you wishing for such a thing, as I quoted above in my Vader post.

You don't want me to go there. Let's just say it's 4chan level trolling. Like Tay Ai, they had to
make adjustments to the Vader Ai. In Tay's case, Microsoft had to shut Tay off it got so bad.

It's disturbing how the incentive to cheat with AI runs unchecked all the way up. Students using it to cheat in college I get - teenagers are not renown for their decision making - but federal officials? These are the people we trust to govern our lives.

The end of Google traffic is coming faster than expected

Google's new AI tools are gutting publisher traffic. If the content dries up, even the best search engine could run out of answers

Generative AI is breaking the dynamic that built the digital-publishing business.

Google is stealing itself right out of business. Another AI death loop, similar to how each generation of AI is trained on the Internet, which contains more and more AI generated content, so its errors compound over time like a cassette that is a copy of a copy of a copy. Or how businesses replacing humans with AIs will eliminate each other's customers in a race to mutual bankruptcy.

People Are Being Involuntarily Committed, Jailed After Spiraling Into "ChatGPT Psychosis"

As we reported earlier this month, many ChatGPT users are developing all-consuming obsessions with the chatbot, spiraling into severe mental health crises characterized by paranoia, delusions, and breaks with reality.

The consequences can be dire. As we heard from spouses, friends, children, and parents looking on in alarm, instances of what's being called "ChatGPT psychosis" have led to the breakup of marriages and families, the loss of jobs, and slides into homelessness.

Why what? Why not apply? Because AI is going to destroy the CGI industry, it will be pointless to take in new people. Ai may even destroy the movie and TV industry. Who needs actors, sets, special effects etc when an AI can just make it all from scratch? You will be watching purely AI shows and movies soon, just wait. The only thing that could stop it is people refusing to watch them - if they are even told about it. There may be fake AI "actors".
