A covid-like month or two every year, without the disease of course, would be great. No traffic. I still remember the intense fresh air from that time, which I never smelled before and probably never will again.

It was very surreal here. I felt like Cillian Murphy in 28 days later. City completely empty. No people. No traffic.
Minus the virus zombies of course. Though.... heh

A song and music video from 7 years ago.

    Intro:
"Music. One of man's greatest achievements.
Is quickly becoming more popular with each passing day.
We invite you to follow along. As our scientists work in teams of the future.
Where music is created not by man but by machines

Oh I think you will. In your lifetime the fossil fuels thing will have to end if we are to avoid broiling ourselves to death. Everybody hopes it will be replaced with renewables, but it may instead just be a drastic dialing back of living standards that are based on cheap energy, and a move to much lower energy consumption. Homes will have to be built within walking or biking distance to workplaces, and food grown locally instead of shipped frozen from thousands of miles away, as it was in the past. Either way - renewables or just cut in living standards - I don't think the fossil fuels pollution can continue for that much longer. There is already an insurance crisis in the US caused by global warming, a lot of states where insurance companies cannot make a profit because of extreme climate effects and it is getting worse every year, I have seen the charts. These are not even coastal states. They are inland - heat waves, droughts, sudden massive flooding from rain, wildfires. It is affecting crops and food production too. Rising sea levels are a serious problem already in some areas and will get worse. Fresh water is starting to become a problem in many places.

The right wingers of the older generations that control the corporations and the governments are acting like greedy fools - our governor removed all references to climate change in our laws and regulations, funding is cut to scientists and universities studying it, the president is allowing more oil drilling and cutting funding to wind turbines - they are destroying their own childrens' futures, they think with enough money they can always find a place that is safe from it for their own families. But I think the generation coming after will make needed changes. Already people here are being priced out of their homes by the insurance cost due to hurricanes. When I drive around I see what look like hills, but they are not hills, they are landfills, mounds of garbage covered over with grass to make artificial hills of garbage. Everything comes in plastic, it is building up not just in the earth and ocean but in our bodies, our arteries and brains. The way we are living is not sustainable in any way and it will end.

You are young enough that I think you will live to see the air and water start to become clean again.

Evil, greedy men must be defeated if we are to survive.

I said "in your lifetime" not "this year." Right now the bad guys are in charge.
