Youtube is experimenting with HTML5 and I must say that I like it better than the original flash.

I have one video that forces you to watch it in HTML5 in Google Chrome (does not work in FF or IE) so you can check it out:

This is the one without to watch in HTML5 in Google Chrome, so you can compare without using the trial (below):

The advantage for me is that there is no sync problem in HTML5 (the audio stays in tune with the video). I have that problem with flash that the audio comes later compared with the video watching the video the first time.

I'm really tired of jerky videos in FF and I hope it will get fixed by HTML5...I was able to watch the first video in FF without problems btw...I have FF 7.0.1

What I mean is that the video only forces to play in HTML5 with Google Chrome. In FF and IE the video plays just the flash like normal.

So YouTube is rolling out the new Layout for some users (including me) as a experiment. It's not bad, only two things I hate: all the different sized profile icons and the subscribtions feed which becomes a newsfeed and is showing all activity from all your friends and subscribtions (that means likes, favs, comments, uploads etc), so that looks like a total mess, just like facebook is now.. :(

It's always surprising what recommended video's pop up, I can't remember I have watched a startrek video, or an Ash video, or a game video recently because I reallly don't care about those.

Yeah :(
Somehow they all want a similar layout and integrate all functions: chat like msn, comments, likes, video's, newsfeed/timeline like twitter etc

If you want to check out this new style (temporary) do the following:
- open Google Chrome and go to YouTube.com
- click ctrl-shift-J (and a new window appears -> Developer Tools)
- click the console button and add in the white window below (next to the arrow) the text: document.cookie="VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE=ST1Ti53r4fU";
- click enter (see image)
- close the Developer Tools windows and refresh the YouTube.com screen


I pasted the text (with ctrl-v) and pressed enter, now it looks like this:
