Turkey claims that the jets were in Turkish territory, and that they gave them 5 warnings over 5 minutes. Russia claims that they were in Syrian territory.
NATO just announced that they will let Turkey and Russia handle this one themselves. They said that NATO allies confirmed the jets to be in Turkish territory. They had had no contact with Russia however.
What's your thoughts on this one?
Will Putin remove kebab? Is it the beginning of WWIII?
Personally I'm disgusted to be a part of NATO. That fact that they automatically take Turkey's side, just for being an allied, goes against every fact we know of a fair society. I feel like we should have never let Turkey in, and I fear that they might end up causing us to be forced to go against Russia.
Just a little note here. Back in 2012 Erdoghan came with this statement:
Mr Erdogan spoke of Turkey's "rage" at the decision to shoot down the F-4 Phantom on 22 June and described Syria as a "clear and present threat".
"A short-term border violation can never be a pretext for an attack," he said. The Turkish jet was on a training flight, testing Turkey's radars in the eastern Mediterranean, he said.
