chemmie...you know, i heard mixed reactions when i asked people that same question about a nose piercing. Some people (both guys and girls) said it made their eyes water because it gets your sinuses pretty good when it's pierced. Some people said it hurt a LOT or MORE than a lot. Others said it was nothing. Some people said it hurt, but it was for a second so who cares.

I have to say this. I took my neighbour with me. She held me hand. I began to sweat in places i didn't know existed. i was SOOOO scared. I told the guy that perhaps i didn't LOOK like a swearer, but that i was a sailer-mouth and to be prepared.
He told me to take in a deep breath. Then let it out. Then to take in another and as i let it out, he'd put the piercing through. (It's a hollow needle, NOT a piercing gun).
So i took the first breath and let it out, then took in the other breath but i was afraid to let it out because i knew he'd do the piercing! ha ha...so i said "Are you gonna do it now?" and he said very calmly..."yep."
So i said ok...and he did.
And my neighbour said the look on my face was described like i was waiting for the pain, but it never happened. And that is exactly what it was. It was absolutely NOTHING. i felt NO pain. Not even my eyes watered! Nothing.
However, I bled like a son of a bitch after and wondered if i'd need an ambulance (but i am low in iron, so that's why...), but other than that, i was golden. The guys there were great. They brought me water and cold clothes because i was sweating so much and bleeding from my nose so much. hee hee...
But honestly, i waited over 5 years to get one and wish i hadn't waited. It does NOT hurt like you think it will, and if you are lucky like me, you won't think it hurts at all. :)
I had it done in August and wore a stud for a while (a diamond one made of surgical steel) and then ordered a hoop since i've always wanted one, so maybe that's why you noticed the piercing on me more now.
But do your research and do it well. Ask to see all the inner places of all the piercing studios in your city. Make sure they have certificates on their walls that their place has been approved by health inspectors and that they use only surgical steel and GLOVES. If you go to YOUTUBE and put in nose piercings, you will be SHOCKED at the creepy places you can get them done. So please please, to avoid all infection, research before hand. Mine never once became infected because i went to the BEST place in the city AND because i followed his aftercare directions to the *T*. :)
