It was 12 years ago I was introduced to Soundcloud as an alternative platform to upload your own music. Soundcloud was new and a quiet place back then. Copyright blocks wasn't invented yet so my first upload - The LazyTown Megamix - was uploaded without any problem. In those years Soundcloud with its beautiful orange colors was something unique. Some websites brought together Soundcloud music makers to like each other’s songs and comment on them in contests. It was a great opportunity to get your music heard by a wider audience. I submitted one of my LazyTown remixes to the contest and got the weirdest reactions from complete strangers. It was a little embarrassing. I'm glad most of LazyTown YouTubers signed up and some of the GetLazy members. There wasn't an option to chat or discuss in public, only comments were allowed on the songs. That's still the case.
I haven't been there much in those 12 years, but when I did come back, it felt like a safe place where my music was. There was always someone who left a comment, liked one of my songs, or left a DM. On average, that was once or twice a month. I never really felt a connection with the platform, probably because the response from others is so low with an average of about 1500 views per song and 15 likes over these 12 years. I liked the color orange, it made me feel like the website was connected to my country. But that is all over. Since this week Soundcloud has no colors anymore.
