Has anyone noticed how used are the heels on Robbie's shoes?

I noticed the bottom of his shoes. Under the ball of his foot is definately worn, but I've always thought that was cardboard under the arch of his foot to help secure his spats.

I thought that too but actually I don't think his spats are the kind that fasten under the shoe, I can't get any pictures right now but particularly in the official wallpapers and so on you can tell there's nothing going underneath his foot. But then I don't know how to explain the thing on the bottom of his shoe... haha.
