You mean the motherboard manufacturer's epic fail. You are supposed to only have to click on the XMP option to get the
advertised memory speed. The companies advertise their motherboard's as easy peasy mode. Just click it an forget. "We'll take care of the rest"
You know "So easy a caveman can click a button". Hah, my epic fail is trusting them with voltages.

As for the forced overclocking, already explained. They sell their memory at a specific speed. But in order to get that speed
requires an overclock. If you were new to all this, you'd have to go digging to find out you actually bought say 1600mhz memory
not what was advertised. What was advertised was the overclock speed. To be fair the memory sticks are designed to be overclocked
but that should be made clear right from the start for a newbie. I already knew when buying the memory I needed to overclock to get
    the 3200mhz advertised speed.

Yeah some of these fonts and sizes that are used leave something to be desired at times.

I had a blue screen once because of sound card software, and when updating the driver software the problem was gone. That was the only time in my life.

My pirated Fallout 3 used to reboot the computer spontaneously when I tried to use the VATS aiming system to get a critical hit.

LOL. I wanted to try it. It was not to my taste as I figured. I never got very far into it what with the crashing.

      I use these

      https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0143UM4TC

No overclocking and the comp is fast as lightning. What really made the difference was switching from hard drive to SSD. Holy cow what an improvement in loading times in Pillars of Eternity, a game where you have to load often due to changing maps, and the longer the game goes on, the slower the load gets. I used to get up and go to the bathroom, get a Coke etc every time I left an area and entered a new one. Now it's a second or two tops.

I should make clear my previous computer is old school BIOS. I really do not like these newer UEFI bioses.
The old bios you had to do everything manually which I did with no issues. Right down to the overclocking and voltage settings.
At least I knew right away they were set right. Not relying on others to do it.

All you're supposed to do is click that XMP profile to set the memory and that's it.
It's supposed to take care of everything else.

          (Not my screen capture)

Click image for larger version Name:	MSI-UEFI-Bio.jpg Views:	0 Size:	88,4 KB ID:	206714

I try not do anything else in the UEFI bios because it so convoluted with options. In fact, clicking that XMP and selecting
the proper TMP is all I ever did when I first put this new system together. Wasn't just up until now did I begin looking up about
Bios settings and voltages. I should have done that from the very beginning.

I just gave it the ultimate stress test. I went in and out of GTA V a few times. Played it a bit.
If I did that on the old bios setting and Windows install, I'd either get a blue screen or I'd have to reboot
due to computer being laggy and a bit wonky. I don't have to do that this time and so far no blue screen.
I'ma happy camper. For today at least. Even ejecting devices from the usb is working as it should.

Why does it say DDR 2666 Mhz if you overclocked it to 3200 Mhz.

Also it says PTT. I thought that was an Intel technology for on-CPU TPM. Aren't you using AMD?

Don't remember ever seeing a red color value before. Going to keep my eye on that and look into it more.

Yeah you're overclocking so it sounds like it applies all the time not just under full load.

I did the value reset. Got rid of the red. Loaded up GTA V two more times and didn't get the red. Thought it might have been that.

What is the value reset. Does it leave it overclocked or not.

The option on the bottom of the HwInfo window with the clock icon
And I spent a little more time in GTA V and got red again.

I could have sworn I set the DRAM in the bios to 1.4v as well yesterday.
I went into the Bios to double check and the Dram voltage was set to auto.
I'm going to reboot to make sure it's still set.

Was just in a GTA V session and now it looks good
