Wow, no Nintendo fans here. I'm surprised.

We had a Wii. It's backwards compatible with GameCube games and controllers, so once we got one we never plugged in the GameCube again. The Wiimote was kind of a gimmick and mostly good for party games - they sold a steering wheel you could inlay the controller into and play Mario Kart that way, but it was way less tactile than a GameCube controller and no halfway serious gamer would use it - although it was super accurate as a pointer and a few games made use of that. There were a lot of decent party games like Wii Bowling and Wii Fit which were very simple so non-gamers could grasp them easily. Those were always always a hit with adults (like aunts and uncles who might play with us) and it was hilarious to see how involved they would get, using their whole bodies. The Wii U was after my time.

From what I can gather you can leave them all in there and just choose an OS at boot time. Though due to Windows schenanigans it is best to have Linux on its own drive, think that's due to the newer UEFI stuff and how it handles boot partitions. I guess in the past with the old way, you could have them both on one drive without Windows overwriting the Linux boot partition during updates and whatnot.
At the time, I was thinking about just removing the M.2 with the windows install then hooking up the
regular hard drive and install Linux on that. Never the two shall meet. That issue with Windows dual
boot with Linux has been an issue for many Windows versions. Doesn't play nice.

Another way of doing it is get an USB M.2 adapter. And just connect the different drives for whatever
OS you want to run. I ended up with it's not really worth it. Yet.

Time for computer cleaning and here's the M.2 #2 drive slot and cover while I was at it

And the cover with thermal pad. Just peel off protective tape.
The cover is pretty solid and sturdy.

        It's not just a cover, it's a heat sink.

Physically connecting and disconnecting drives every time sounds like it might wear out the contacts. Also you will sooner or later damage the drive with ESD if you keep handling it. Better off with one of those 2 TB external SSD's like I mentioned before if you wanted the slowness of running your OS from a USB port.

I had no idea the Wii was backwards compatible. Speaking of the Wiimote there was also apparently a nunchuck remote. But I've never seen it. Maybe it was actually shaped like a nunchuk. Also, are you aware there's an entire series of "Wii" games? Wii Party, Wii Music, etc.

Why not just buy a second computer.

Or use a virtual machine. I used to have MacOs running in a VM environment because uploading the GetLazy App to the Apple store required using Mac. The VM was running in Windows, called VMware Workstation.

That's weird. Reply has stopped working. I was able to do 1 reply with quote but none

Yeah, I don't know why I just referred to it as a cover. I'm pretty sure everyone else

Speaking of which I could use a heat sink myself with this heat

In the meantime, LazyPooky You beat me to it. Believe it or not I was thinking about that today
that I left that option a second computer out. The answer would be clutter and having to deal even more hardware.

Oh yeah forgot to mention the ampersand-username seems to have stopped working too. Since last week.
I'm not getting the usual response when I type say LazyPooky. I usually get an autofill window option that pops
up and the it's highlights in an amber color. Hasn't been doing that. I noticed it when I sent possessor a reply

Yeah wth the replies are working again. I give up!!!!

Anyway, yeah I did the virtual machine a while ago. I had the Linux install and Windows WM.
I need it to go full screen but with VM you can't do that.

Yes, virtual machines can be displayed in full screen mode. To achieve this, you'll typically need to utilize the features provided by your virtualization software (like VMware or VirtualBox) and potentially install Guest Additions for enhanced display settings
Never mind on that as well. I don't know if that's new. I'm guessing it probably is. All I remember is when I did the VM stuff
there's was no option to go full screen.

                  VirtualBox:
                  • Install Guest Additions:
To enable full screen and proper scaling, you'll need to install the VirtualBox Guest Additions within the guest operating system. This is typically done by selecting "Install Guest Additions" from the "Devices" menu in VirtualBox.
                  • Enable Full Screen Mode:
After installing Guest Additions and restarting the guest OS, you can switch to full screen mode through the "View" menu. You may also need to select "Switch to Full Screen".

That's cool if it actually goes full screen.

Yeah the full screen option wasn't there at the time, I remember. Not really annoying for me, only if you want to play a game full screen. You could switch from your installed Windows to the VM pretty easy. When I got a server the first time in 2017 there was already VM software installed. Not in Windows though, it was bootable VM software. It was a yellow colored font as I can remember, DOS-like environment, most likely Linux. Also complicated so I removed it and installed Windows.

Weird stuff about the reply, never had that πŸ˜„

You're always talking about Mac and Apple. Did you ever had a computer with Windows?
I was so confused when I had the MacOS installed the first time. Different names and menus. Same with Linux though. It's like trying to speak another language.

When using different kind of software at the same time I have the same thing, sort of. Right clicking or a certain key combination on the keyboard can be completely different in one application than in another. You really need to be focused or things go wrong.

I had never used a single Apple product until last year. I will say that Windows does tons of things better. Ability to run older apps, not having to install an app to uninstall another one.. I will never use Linux as long as I live.
