Wow, no Nintendo fans here. I'm surprised.
We had a Wii. It's backwards compatible with GameCube games and controllers, so once we got one we never plugged in the GameCube again. The Wiimote was kind of a gimmick and mostly good for party games - they sold a steering wheel you could inlay the controller into and play Mario Kart that way, but it was way less tactile than a GameCube controller and no halfway serious gamer would use it - although it was super accurate as a pointer and a few games made use of that. There were a lot of decent party games like Wii Bowling and Wii Fit which were very simple so non-gamers could grasp them easily. Those were always always a hit with adults (like aunts and uncles who might play with us) and it was hilarious to see how involved they would get, using their whole bodies.
