I never use it so I have no idea. I turned that off immediately when I installed the Windows on the both devices.

But I think it slurps upon installation. Also if you turn it off don't you have to find all your files and move them back to their original locations from the OneDrive folder? I have been reading about it and it sounds like a real pain. It's also known to reactivate silently from updates. The only defense seems to be only using a local account not a MS account.

It seems I have to turn on UEFI, Secure Boot and TPM/PTT for Win11 and turning those on might make my comp not boot.

At least the system drive is already GPT format for some reason although Secure Boot is turned off.

The only occurrence on my end about shutting off that cloud crap is when my phone updates
and sneakily turns back on the automatic cloud backup. I turn it off and I do get that message
about losing the images I took with my cell camera. I don't care off you go.
Most of the pics I take is used in texting and after that I really don't need them.

Now, every time the phone does updates, I check to see if the bums turned the cloud backup on.

Don't remind me about that Secureboot TPM. I had to update my bios because the mother board didn't
come with the latest TPM.

I am reading contradictory stuff. Somebody in a tech channel told me Win11 needs Secure Boot (and turning it on can make your comp unbootable) but I read on the Microsoft site that you don't, you just need to have your comp be capable of it. I am not sure what that means. When I check in Windows my drive is already GBT and the boot mode is UEFI but Secure Boot is off. I haven't looked in the BIOS yet. Hopefully I can just turn on TPM and that's it. Either way I am going to have to back everything up on that boot drive and make a Win10 or Win11 install thumb drive in case something happens. Need to back stuff up anyway, haven't backed anything up in many years lol.

That's not good! I make backups every month. I've never used cloud stuff. For personal stuff I have two 2TB HDDs, one of them is the backup. Sure there can be risks, like fire or it gets stolen but that risk is quite small if you have the backup in another part of the house, stored well and save.

I have an paragon ISO that let me backup the whole partition, and can restore it like nothing happened. I can share it if you would like to have it.

I think some emotions are not easily classified with a single word. I would say that is a happy face, but it has connotations of a secret or something left unsaid. You don't see men making that face very often but young women often do. For example in answer to

"Did he pop the question? Girl are you engaged?" or
"Well - how did it go? Did you get the job?!" or
"Did he stay the night? Girl did you have sex?"

People often look at the ceiling and sometimes whistle to show they clearly know something they don't want to say out loud.
So what is the emotion of "I have a secret and it's making me happy but I won't say it out loud" ? I don't know lol.

In Julianna's case I think she is just trying to look cute (and succeeding as always). I have seen older women try to shrug their shoulders and roll their eyes to look cute but the effect is often grotesque if you are not actually cute.

and you say "No of course not". But you are. As you hand them the food and they start to eat, you make that expression
as they react to spiced up food. 😁

Yes it can mean anything, from "ah you're so sweet saying that" to "are you serious?" to "say that one more time and I will hurt you" with a smile-pokerface. Difficult to put that into one word, so in this case I keep it to neutral, like many others.



Anyway. With the Paragon ISO you can make a bootable USB stick (linux) and have a GUI to make partition backups/restores. That's so helpful. Once you have a good running system and made a backup, you can restore that backup later once your system is not working the way you want anymore. Your system is restored in 10-30 minutes, depending how large it is. Or if you want to switch to a new HDD or SSD, you have a running system in no time.

Keep in mind that you need to backup some files before you do a restore of a previous backup. Like, Thunderbird has profile files stored somewhere on the system partition. But there are other parts of software or settings within software that you would like to keep. So a good preparation is necessary.

Oh the Paragon ISO. I think I heard of it. I looked it up and it and it's basically the same as the program I have Acronis.
Acronis has been around a while.

Here is the paragon boot x64 ISO file. I've added Rufus in the zip file to make the bootable USB stick.

It uses about 450MB of space on the USB stick.

Rufus is usually one of the first things I install after an OS install. I have 4.5 right now. Good for doing Linux distros too.

My worst nightmare has come true. Going to have to reinstall Windows 11.

For some reason, I can't install any graphics updates. I did the AMD cleaner and all that
but still no go. Not to mention I noticed in the device manage the unkown device has
run amuck. I counted them. 697 unknow devices.

I have everything backed up anyway so that's not an issue.

How do you reinstall it? I have never reinstalled Windows. Do you have to reformat the C drive? Or do you just install Windows on top of whatever is there?
