EG, Robbie's surname is Rotten, but just because it's descriptive doesn't mean we can't reasonably assume that wasn't also the surname of at least one of his parents.

Magnús was quoted in the second linked article. So I assume that the writers of the other articles also got their information from Magnús, and did not interpret it themselves. After translating and writing all the other articles I can only confirm that this is almost always the case.
