    Stephanie flash rig process

    Last time I posted I was doing art style imitations and mentioned something about utilizing it for animation. I recently started making a puppet rig of Stephanie to animate with (in adobe animate) . I currently only have the 3/4 head and its mouth and eye comps. Mostly traced off the official sprites because I aim for total accuracy for this rig, though for the mouth comps I had to guess what they'd look like because all she does in the official art is smile :) . Some of the shadows are off so they don't overlap with other pieces. What do you think?

    This looks amazing! You're of course basing it off official art right? From the Noodle Magazine or the 2010 style guide?

      That is a high effort project! Do you think you'll do anything with it, or is it practice? It looks like you must have some animation experience.

          I do plan on using it for a music video if it's a success, this is the first time I'm building a puppet rig from the ground up. If you consider 10 years as an animator "experience" then sure, I do. Though only in the past year or two have I gotten into puppet animation. Going from traditional frame by frame (drawing each unique frame by hand) to something like this that is mostly motion tween based, is like learning a new skill all over again, because of all the technical junk that makes up a rig. It's like being an engineer but with drawings hahaha.

            The images in the styleguide are vector images with many layers. Like basic shape, colors, shadows etc.

            Vector images work like that you can zoom in and the quality is still the same, you can extract them in a high resolution with a lot of detail.

            Your software look like more simpler with steady elements and less layers, like the eye elements. Or did you add layers for every element?
            Magnús: - I have fans of all ages and I don't think it's weird when older people like LazyTown. LazyTown appeals to people for many different reasons: dancing, acrobatics, etc.

              Adobe animate is actually a complex vector based program. The eyes are made up of 7 seperate layers for the eye shines, pupils, irises, sclera, top lashes, bottom lid and a mask layer in the sclera's shape so the iris and pupil stay within in the sockets.
              Today I made guide notes for how I might split up the body pieces with over and underlays taken into account, and how I might work with the stripes without sacrificing flexibility in the rig.
