It's a fruit isn't it? OK, so you have to cook it, and I don't think foods that need cooking have ever been used as examples of sportscandy on the show, but it's still a fruit, and they've never used peaches or kiwis as sportscandy either.
(not that that my sibs were convinced when I tried the sportscandy tactic to get them to eat their pumpkin one night .)
I recall last year when I was in cooking school, the supervisor wanted to creatively rid of a huge mixing bowl full of instant pumpkin pie mix. So she went online and looked up a Pumpkin Soup and instead of using real pumpkin, she substituted the real pumpkin ingredient with the pumpkin pie mix. She was going to make and serve it the following day.
I sensed great impending doom that I avoided the next day, and I hear it was quite a disaster. Never would've happened if the chef/instructor was there, but he had to leave. Hi-larious.
And so, I better try to EAT the pumpkin this year rather than carving it then busting it up the day after Halloween.
Last year, we had a ridiculous amount of pumpkins from the garden. Even with giving them away half our meals had pumpkin in them: as soup for lunch, roasted, steamed or mashed for meat + 3 veg style dinners, put into casseroles, curries and stews, I think we had pasta in a pumpkin sauce one day (that didn't work out so well) and then there was that slightly disastrous batch of pumpkin biscuits or cakes or scones or something.
They are indeed plenty edible, and in applications such as soup and pie (and I suppose bread) easily made palatable to the majority of people.
oh. ah. well, i have missed all you guys. like, tremendously. but i had some shitty stuff happen in my life and i am pushing through my health crap and it's just been sorta overwhelming and i took a break from a lot of stuff for a while.
i didn't even really keep in touch with justin or ultra magnus anymore and i usually wrote them every couple of days.
