but that is what causes over crowding of prisons which is why people are getting shorter sentences now.
If the death penalty was used, over crowding wouldnt be as big a problem

    just putting it out there
This is true, and it is a very difficult issue to address. But there are other solutions to overcrowding than giving dangerous people more opportunity to be a threat. I just think that sentences should be given more thought, because some people who commit lesser crimes than something like murder get the same sentences on some occasions. There's a fine balance between what people deserve and what is feasable though, I recognise that.
It's true! That is why the justice system is so messed up. A bunch of people growing marijuana to sell (which is a plant that has killed a grand total of ZERO people since the dawn of time) got 20 years and an unimaginable fine, when some sicko who beat up an innocent father until he was permanently blinded got 2 years.

We need to start seriously prioritising the crimes in our societies.

I think the best argument against the death penalty is, IF an innocent person was convicted and sent to prison - there's still a chance their innocence will be proven over time and they can simply be released and get compensation blah blah blah, but if they're sent to be executed it's an irreversible process.
I was just thinking about that last night. You have a chance to prove that someone is innocent if he just get's sent to prison.

      I tottaly agree!

Let's see, in Romania, we used to have the death penallty in the times of communism. Murders and rapings were much much lesser then in these days, much lesser. Organised crime didn't exist.
Right after the revolution in 1989, the death penalty was abolished. Romania today is not a nice country to live in. Crime is at an all time high, and prisones are overflowing.

I used to be for it, and for points such as overcrowding in prison and such, it makes sense. Over the years though, I think I've changed my mind and just can't really condone it. In theory, killing a murderer or rapist or something seems kind of justified, but if you look at it just as killing another person, I don't know...it just doesn't seem ok. I guess I kind of flip-flop on the issue depending on the situation, which isn't really a great position to have, lol. I need to take stronger stances on things.
