And boom goes the dynamite. And to think that they were juuuuust getting over their first dose of radiation. Maybe they should rename everything with "shima" at the end of its name to something that ... isn't... shima..

TOKYO (AP) - Japan's nuclear safety agency says it suspects an explosion at a nuclear power plant may have damaged a reactor's container and fears a radiation leak.

        ---------------------------------------------------------------------

SOMA, Japan -- A third explosion in four days rocked a crippled nuclear power plant in tsunami-ravaged northeastern Japan early Tuesday as authorities struggled to avert a catastrophic release of radiation.

        ----------------------------------------------------------------------
SOMA, Japan – Radiation is spewing from damaged reactors at a crippled nuclear power plant in tsunami-ravaged northeastern Japan in a dramatic escalation of the 4-day-old catastrophe. The prime minister has warned residents to stay inside or risk getting radiation sickness.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said Tuesday that a fourth reactor at the Fukushima Dai-ichi complex was on fire and that more radiation was released

Prime Minister Naoto Kan warned that there are dangers of more leaks and told people living within 19 miles (30 kilometers) of the Fukushima Dai-ichi complex stay indoors.

The news is so depressing =/ my anime club is doing a fundraiser for disaster relief.

Except there's this one horribly ignorant girl who had this to say:

I'm disappointed in the reactions of many Americans and Internet douchebags.

Japan nuclear crisis: Workers halt desperate struggle to stop meltdown at Fukushima plant

Workers abandoned Japan's quake-stricken nuclear plant on the verge of meltdown Tuesday when increasing radiation levels made it too dangerous to remain.

Inside the evacuated Fukushima plant about 50 workers had been struggling to keep pumping seawater into the reactors to avert a meltdown of the nuclear core that could spread large-scale contamination.

Well pooky you inspired me to take some post supermoon shots tonight on a stroll. Not great shots since I was using my cell camera which isn't the best of them.

I upped the brightness on the camera hence the wash out was just trying it out since I haven't tried doing that yet with a night shot.

                        Re: Natural Pattern?

Still nice shots though. It seems you have a clear sky too overthere, on the day that springtime began according to the astrologists.

I did not read there were more natural disasters. According to some scientist there is not much of a correlation between that full supermoon and earthquakes etc.
Maybe they need to start investigate what full supermoon does to french people.. hmm..

According to John Vidale: "Both the moon and sun do stress the Earth a tiny bit, and when we look hard we can see a very small increase in tectonic activity when they're aligned. You see a less-than-1-percent increase in earthquake activity, and a slightly higher response in volcanoes."

The effect of tides on seismic activity is greatest in subduction zones such as the Pacific Northwest, where one tectonic plate is sliding under another.

William Wilcock: "When you have a low tide, there's less water, so the pressure on the seafloor is smaller. That pressure is clamping the fault together, so when it's not there, it makes it easier for the fault to slip."

Wilcock hasn't observed any correlations between earthquake activity and especially low tides at new and full moons. Vidale has observed only a very small correlation.

                          Terje Sorgjerd:
I spent a week capturing one of the biggest aurora borealis shows in recent years.

Shot in and around Kirkenes and Pas National Park bordering Russia, at 70 degree north and 30 degrees east. Temperatures around -25 Celsius. Good fun.
