The New Wonders of the World

I think it's worth having a topic about this and see your views about it.

The New Seven Wonders of the World are:

Chichen Itza - an ancient city in Central America
Christ the Redeemer - a large statue of Christ (thanks God) in Brazil
Great Wall of China - a colossal wall built over two thousand years ago and visible from space
Machu Pichu - the remains of an old city in the Andes Mountains of Peru
Petra - a city carved into rock in Jordan in the Middle East
Colusseum - A Roman stadium which seated over 50,000 (built by Emperor Vespasian ;) )
Taj Mahal - a great marble mausoleum in India

and honorary canditate, which is also a wonder.

The Pyramids of Giza - giant structures housing the dead Egyptian Pharoahs. The only existing of the original Seven Wonders of the World

    So, interesting, huh?

The original list was complied long before Marco Polo. Really, it's the seven wonders of the Mediterranean Cradle of Civilisation, not so much the world.

I made it a point to vote all for ancient world wonders. Ancients knew how to do it right ;)

And what is this Christ the Redeemer thing? I don't even remember that on the site when I voted. I wonder if he ever gets hit by lightning...

When I looked at that picture and saw how big that statue was, I said out loud to myself, "Jesus Christ!" Then I realized what I was looking at.

I don't really know why people are bitching about the jesus statue. If we needed new wonders at all(and I'm not sure we did, but okay) it's pretty good. It's no less an impressive sight than the statue of Zeus would have been.

                          Okay, it's impressive and stuff...
I'm just saying that a 150' statue built with 20th century technology is less of a CONSTRUCTIONAL wonder than 450' high pyramids built 5000 years ago in Egypt. ;)
Culturally I guess they are of less importance than Jesus in our modern world. HOWEVER, Jesus has yet to make an appearance on LazyTown!

Yeah, Petra seems very deserving, looks amazing.

I think this will be a wonder of the world one day, and pretty much anything else in Dubai:

also, see the little disc at the top, thats a tennis court =D

and this is meant to be the tallest building in the world when its finished:
