US vs. UK voices, part III

It's that time again, the great voice acting debate!

Anyway, the intro: Probably to preserve the purity of UK children's accents, the distributor in the UK redubs the voices of Stingy, Pixel, Ziggy, and Trixie with UK actors. This results in minor dialouge/song changes ('sweets' instead of 'candy' in Cooking by the Book, 'toffee' instead of 'taffy' in Happy Brush Day, 'postbox' instead of 'mailbox' in The Mine Song, etc.)

Overall, I think the US voices are better, but I acknowledge that I have a bias because I was exposed to the US version first. In many cases, the UK audio is not mixed very well, which leads to botched choruses in songs like Twenty Times Time. The UK dialogue isn't all that bad, though. Stingy's UK voice is perfect for him, Ziggy and Pixel's are alright, but Trixie sounds girly and polite.

Interestingly, the US actors seemed to botch The Learning Song and the UK actors made it sound better in School Scam.

I haven't heard the learning song yet, but the US actors SOMEWHAT butchered the Circus song. Though, the more I listen to it -- The more I like it :/ For some reason, the background singing sounds better in the US audio as well. Hmm...

My votes goes to the US voices of course

I haven't even heard the UK voices yet, so I can't say

Although I love Stingy's US voice. I loved when the candy machine from Happy Brush day just slammed all those pieces in his face xD "Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine! xDDD"

The US voices are just better to me, and I hate Ziggys voice in the UK.

I like the US voices, but I really enjoy Trixies singing with the UK voice compared to the US one.

Apart from Ziggy and Pixel I don't really care one way or the other, but for those two I just hate their UK voices. UK Pixel especially can't sing very well. By the end of the 'wake up' song I was on the floor in a fetal position.

Yup, it fits with the emo glasses he's been wearing more often in Season 2. :p

The songs with puppet choruses (such as Teamwork and Twenty Times Time) tend to be mixed badly, but aside from Pixel, most of the UK puppets do well in solo bits, especially Stingy.

I wish I could love both equally, but the UK voices keep grating on my ears no matter how hard I try to force myself to get used to it.
I seriously need a new sig. Will try Photoshop later.

                        US, hands down.

Granted, my only real exposure to the UK voices to date have been song clips posted to youtube, but when the puppets are singing, at least in a chorus (pirate for example), a couple are off key or off note, and it makes my ears bleed. I mean, why are they so bad? Other dubs don't have this problem.

                          Wow, how sided xD

Yeah I checked out those youtube clips, It's definitely really weird after you've been watching the US version for so long.

Had I watched the UK originally, I'd probably like theirs better. Just sorta depends what you start with for most things.

You'd like theirs better? Just listen to that Chorus. My ears bleed. Regular show dialog(ue) is fine, but when the puppets have to sing... oh man... you do NOT want that. They're frequently off-key, off beat, or both.
