For example here’s one company’s commercials from over time becoming pretty bad and cheap in just after a few years because they’re becoming cash grabbers. Though last year’s commercials weren’t overly bad as 2023 (which is the last link below)

    90’s-00’s:

2010’s: (btw yes the voice actor in this commercial is same guy who did Phineas and Ferb’s theme song and does bowling for soup)

    2020’s:

I have noticed the cereal ads dropping in quality. Compare any Froot Loops ads from the 90s to one from 5 years ago.

I always loved the 90’s coco pops commercial’s probably because of the catchy tune. But yes they definitely drop in quality. I mean even the taste of some cereal got dropped in quality *coughs* the Nesquik cereal… But actually their cereal used to taste as good now taste so bad probably they changed the chocolate coating or the sugar intake in that cereal. They probably haven’t changed the drink version because so many people will get mad or something. So that should taste good still

spilled some water on this threads head

SO LATELY I'VE BEEN WATCHING DANKPODS (@Fairy-Possum Play_z209 - you must know him.. "let's go to CASHIIEEEESS"). The Australian man who likes drums, cars, has a female snake named Frank and also likes blowing cheap earphones. (He calls MP3 players nuggets too.) He may or may not be absolutely insane. But anyways, he's blessed me with the knowledge of knowing I can get iPods for less then $200 at my local Cash Converters.

Anyways because I've recently garnered an interest for iPod Nanos and Classics (imagine liking the shuffles haha), I realized their advertising is eye-candy.

I bless you with iPod Nano ads.

Enjoy these iPod Shuffle ads. Even though the Shuffle is a waste of money even for nostalgia purposes, the ads still rock.

I had an iPod Nano. Listened to it while riding the metro (subway train) to work.

It was silver. I don't know what gen it was, it was a gift. I still have it somewhere. 4GB? Does that sound right? Not sure what the Black Spot of Death is. I just used it for music.

Black spot of death is basically when the battery expands and it presses against the screen (this - a black spot) and the Nano becomes a fire hazard

I have no idea who that dude is lol. But talking about old devices, I still have my mum’s old Nokia and an Samsung YP-Z5 from the late 2000’s. By the time she got her first iPhone around 2011-2013 can’t remember exactly when. She didn’t need those 2 devices anymore so she gave me them without charge and a SIM card when I was around 2-3 years old. So, I can play toy phones with imaginary callers and stuff. Funny enough I still have a landline in my household though for emergencies and other stuff

Also landlines? I'm pretty sure those aren't used anymore

No, landlines still in fact work. My family gets random calls on it here and there. We only use it as I said for emergencies. If one person of the family can’t get through on their normal phones. Plus the coin based Telstra phone booths in the city are also landlines but no one except for old people or low income families use them. Since the majority of people use their mobile phones to call these days

I was also fascinated by the cgi animation for a flu medication commercial. That used multiple blue guys with a bandage on their head but couldn’t find those commercials anywhere now. They were advertised everywhere in the chemist and stuff in Australia back in mid 2010’s

Reminds me of a less smarmy and annoying version of the Geico gekko.

I skimmed a bit. Interesting to see one product's ads evolve over half a century. Also interesting to see that old TV ads weren't any less in your face and annoying. The only ad I truly like is the Yogo one at the beginning of this thread. I have a feeling I'll be coming back to watch that every once in a while.

Geico gekko sounds familiar and I wonder where…

Coco pops was my favourite childhood cereal, so a bunch of those ads were nostalgic in someway. Man I still wish cereals still had toys or something in their boxes to collect. Makes it, worth it to eat them in a blue moon
