I usually do the low level format with G-partition. I like
disconnecting all drives that have anything on them I don't want
to mess up and just have the drive I'm targeting for a low level clean.

I had disconnected the drive thinking I was going to do that but I just
went and did the Windows installer format and partition. I figured let me do all the
testing as well for the stability. So I just connected it back when I was absolutely
    ready for it.

That's what I thought I was going to have to do. But no all the games came up PLAY except for GTA V and that
was just to install the front end launcher.

I haven't touched No Man's Sky yet until now for the screen shots and launching the game

I click on play I get the standard next window and it went into the game just fine.
And I played for a little bit.

There's no entry in Add or Remove Programs nor the desktop shortcuts.

Though looks like I can add the desktop shortcuts manually

Red Dead Redemption plays fine as well.

Now all you need to do is get some decent games instead of those

What Chuft really means, is wipe out your entire steam library and just play Club penguin.

Club penguin not on steam since it's strictly an online game. Paid membership and microtransactions. Borderline gotcha game. Nah.

Oh the launchers. Guess you haven't heard the complaining about that.
Rockstar, Ubisoft and Sony among the few that force you to have to use their installer on top of Steam.
You have to make an account with them etc... GTA Online, Data collection and a redundant DRM. Otherwise, you can't play the game.
Gamers haven't been too happy about that for a while now because why do you need a launcher when you have steam.

Steam should have put their foot down on that when it began.

Now the hacked pirated versions does away with all that nonsense.
And they wonder why pirating still exists. That's how I played GTA V
    when it was first released.

Good question think it was around the same time as Battlefleet Gothic: Armada

Just an update on the re-install of Windows 11 24h2. Figured I've given it enough run time since.
So far, so good. Results of running chkdsk and sfc /scannow has been okay. No issues reported.

Since my comp is almost six years old, I am considering building a new one rather than trying to upgrade this one. At first glance it doesn't seem as expensive as I thought it would be.

I wonder if it's worth getting an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D if your gaming is like mine, turn based with the occasional space game like Battlefleet Gothic or Homeworld. Someone at work recommended this because he knows I tend to keep comps for 6+ years and he thinks this will age well, but 500 clams just for the CPU, ouch.

"the new design also helps to remove some of the heavy penalties in productivity work that youโ€™ll often pay for using a gaming-optimized X3D processor"

What the heck is "productivity work" ? Surely they don't mean word processing and that kind of crap, you should be able to do that with a CPU from 1997.

I feel like by the time I am done researching this a whole new architecture will be released because it will be 2027.

I actually have the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D in my next upgrade list. Supposedly it's a really good CPU in
all aspects of performance not just in gaming. Rather like the old AMD x4 955 I was using.

I'll be sticking with AMD Radeon for any video card upgrading too. Just going to wait a little more on that.
Nvidia's been pissing off even the fan boys lately.

2027 sounds good. I'm in no rush either. I'm giving things more than 1 generation before I hit the upgrade button.
