    College?

Yesterday my school held a College Fair in the cafeteria. About 20 college representatives came with college information, and I picked up something from every table just in case. The people were very friendly, especially the student from Stevenson who told me all about the Study Abroad program.

I'm not sure what I want to do or where I want to go, but I want it to have a teaching program so I can get a teaching license eventually just in case I want to do that, and I want to study history and English for that. I also wanted to take a few art classes, like drawing and painting, as well as film and photography. And I am also interested in anthropology/archaeology, but idk yet.
When I really thought about it, social work seemed like a good idea, too.

Not sure what I want but I'm definitely excited.

Anyone here in college? Do you know of any colleges I might be interested in (US colleges)? And do you have any advice for someone like me, who is completely new to all of this?

The schools must meet my standards, though:

-A decent middle/secondary (high school) education program
    -A decent Study Abroad program
    -Affordable/semi-affordable
    -History and English majors
    -Fun campus life
-Active clubs and organizations (such as Gay-Straight Alliance, Writing, photography, environmental, and so on)
-An environment friendly to someone like me
-Not mega party-oriented, more moderate with rules
-Green or in the process of becoming more green (optional but ideal)
-NOT in a mega-huge city, or at least in the less dense area of a city
-Not in California (it's mayhem there with college right now, otherwise I'd be off to University of California: Santa Cruz or something)
-In a good area, nice scenery (so not in the badlands or anything like that)
    -More liberal

I want a college on the East Coast, but if you guys know of one that meets most of my criteria and is affordable/semi-affordable that is somewhere else, let me know!

Sorry for all the boring threads but I'm really stuck with this one...

I know you'll come through for me!

An affordable school and a campus life do not coexist. Any school that you live on campus for is highly expensive. I don't recommend it. The community college I am going to starting soon costs roughly around 1/5 per semester of the university that I was considering. Unless you are a valedictorian and can get a free ride on scholarships, or if you very very poor and can get the governement to pay for the extreme majority of your tuition, I wouldn't recommend a university. But that's just me.

I also recommend going to school in your home state. You get cost cuts and shit
    But it's up to you.

      Re: College?

As a current community college student...our equivalent of campus life is kinda silly scout stuff. There are movies in the lobby, video game tournaments, occasional buffets, and holiday dances.

The professors are smart and very nice, but it can be hard to get meaningful discussion with the students. They all seem half asleep.

...though I wonder if that's true at 'real' colleges too.
I seriously need a new sig. Will try Photoshop later.

          Re: College?

At the college fair I picked up like a million billion pounds worth of info on about 20-25 colleges in and the states surrounding Maryland.

My mom wants me to try community college and then real college. My current high school boasts a 100% 4-year college acceptance rate, and they would require me to try to apply to a bunch of real ones anyway. And since everyone wants to go to community college, they apply to Coppin State (4-year), which accepts literally just about anyone with a pulse.

I'm not sure what I want yet. But while I sift through all of this information, I would love it if you could tell me anything you know about 4-year schools in your state, Zoki... :3
I know there are plenty of good schools there--I just want opinions on them.

Yeah but what do you want to do afterward?

I figure I'll need a 4-year school to do any of the things I was considering.

After I get my associates, I may go to Regis University and get my bachelors.
The tuition there is approximately 3,500 dollars per semester, however, I believe I will get significant financial cuts because of the partnership between there and the school I am going to be going to.
One step at a time though.

Everybody needs a little time to play around. Have to heat it up, better burn it up. Cool it down.

Sorry to revive a clearly dead topic...

Everyone I've talked to tells me to go to community college first, but I don't know any good ones (BCCC sucks balls) and I don't know if I want to wait that long.

Any reasons to go there first? Tips?

                        Re: College?

I haven't the slightest idea what you guys talking about. Here we have only two way to go to a university, from a certain (finished) level of secondary school and from high school. There is no other way, so you need to work your way up. After that you can choose any study on the university you like but there are some admission requirements or advices from the faculties themselves. The collegemoney is about 1800 euro.
A few years ago they introduced the same system as elsewhere, bachelor and master. I got my degree last year
